Bethel Park Lions BBQ
The Bethel Park Lions will hold its Annual BBQ from 4 to 7 p.m. July 23 at Lions Park on Irishtown Road.
Meals include 1/4 chicken, 1/4 rack of ribs, five-bean baked beans, coleslaw, corn bread and a drink for $16 per person. Meals are provided by Brian’s Barbecue.
Proceeds benefit Lions charities and also used for maintenance of Bethel Lions Park. Please bring your unwanted eyeglasses to be donated to the needy. Used books will also be appreciated.

Blood drive in Upper St. Clair
A blood drive in memory of a South Fayette couple’s son is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 25 at the Upper St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department, 2001 Washington Road.
Dean and Kristin Huibregtse are celebrating the life of son Bennett with their formation of Always B Smiling, a nonprofit organization that strives to support children, families, and caregivers with life challenges.

Vitalant, the nonprofit blood services provider conducting the drive, follows strict protocols to ensure the safety of donors, patients and staff members, including social distancing and other precautions.
Those who received a Food and Drug Administration-authorized COVID-19 vaccine can give blood immediately if other eligibility requirements are met. Masks are only required for donors who are not fully vaccinated.
recycling collection
Pennsylvania Resources Council presents a collection of hard-to-recycle items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 28 at Bethel Park High School, 309 Church Road.
Collected at no cost are cellular and home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment, expanded polystyrene packaging material, glass containers, microwave ovens, stereo equipment, and VCRs, DVD players and cable boxes.
Fees are charged for fluorescent tubes, printers, small freon appliances, tires, computer monitors ($20 each), television ($30) and projection or consol TV ($40).

Kid’s baking program
Children ages 3 to 12 are invited to bake their own chocolate baka and challah for Shabbat with the CKids Jewish Discovery Club from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. Sept. 12 at Chabad of the South Hills, 1701 McFarland Road, Mt. Lebanon.

Newcomers and Neighbors
The Peters Township Newcomers and Neighbors Club, a nonprofit women’s civic and service organization serving residents of the township for almost 60 years, is holding its annual kickoff beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Valley Brook Country Club.
Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and dessert, as well as a cash bar. Raffle baskets and a silent auction will be available.
