Used book sale
The Peters Township Library Foundation will offer a used book sale from Aug. 2-7 in the main lobby of the library, 615 E. McMurray Road.
Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
Prices are hardbacks books, $2; paperbacks, $1; puzzles, $3; DVDs, two for $1; CDs, three for $1 or fill an entire grocery bag for $5!
You can make your purchase by cash, check, or credit card. Donations are not being accepted for the sale. All proceeds benefit the Peters Township Library Foundation.
Upper St. Clair school job fair
Upper St. Clair School District is hosting a job fair from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at Boyce Middle School, 1500 Boyce Road.
Candidates will have the opportunity to interview for open positions including bus attendants, part-time and substitutes; bus/van drivers, part-time and substitutes; custodians, full-time and substitutes; maintenance technicians, full-time and substitutes; nutrition center workers, part-time and substitutes; and substitute nurses and teacher aides.
Applicants can apply for one or more positions online. uscsd.org/employment, in advance of the job fair or complete the application process at a computer station during the event. If needed, technology assistance will be provided.
Candidates are encouraged to bring a résumé. Interviews will be conducted on-site during the job fair.
Full-time, part-time and substitute positions are available. All positions offer competitive compensation. Full-time positions offer excellent benefits including healthcare, dental and vision insurance.

South Hills Chorale show
The South Hills Chorale will present a free concert at 6 p.m. Aug. at the Black Ashes Shelter, Farm Show Drive, in South Park. All are invited to attend.
The concert is presented by the chorale in celebration of its return to rehearsals as members prepare for holiday concerts on Dec/ 17 and 18 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair.
South Hills Coin Club
The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. All members and the general public are invited.
This month’s program is the annual pizza party. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes awarded.

Children’s Choir
The South Hills Children’s Choir offers a bedrock of music instruction in a fun choral community. Interested singers ages 8 to 10 need no audition but only to register. Those ages 11 to 18 can sign up to audition on Aug. 12-14.

‘Get Up and Ride!’ program
Join local author Jim Shea and his riding companion Marty Moldovan as they talk about their five-day cycling trip along the Great Allegheny Passage and the book that came after, “Get Up and Ride!”

Concert in the Park
South Fayette Township is hosting a Concert in the Park from 5 to 9 p.m. Aug. 20 at Fairview Park, 129 Greenwood Drive.
The free event features live music from two bands, plus food trucks, drink sales, vendor booths and family fun for all ages.
recycling collection
Pennsylvania Resources Council presents a collection of hard-to-recycle items from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 28 at Bethel Park High School, 309 Church Road.
Collected at no cost are cellular and home phones, computer towers and peripheral equipment, expanded polystyrene packaging material, glass containers, microwave ovens, stereo equipment, and VCRs, DVD players and cable boxes.
Fees are charged for fluorescent tubes, printers, small freon appliances, tires, computer monitors ($20 each), television ($30) and projection or consol TV ($40).

Driver course
The South Fayette Senior Center and South Fayette Parks and Recreation present Seniors for Safe Driving, a PennDOT-approved driver improvement course for adults age 55 and older.
The course will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 at the South Fayette Township Municipal Building back entrance, 515 Millers Run Road.
Cost is $16 per driver. Benefits include car insurance discounts. The course includes classroom instruction only. No exam or on-the-road driving is required.

Newcomers and Neighbors
The Peters Township Newcomers and Neighbors Club, a nonprofit women’s civic and service organization serving residents of the township for almost 60 years, is holding its annual kickoff beginning at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Valley Brook Country Club.
Enjoy complimentary hors d’oeuvres and dessert, as well as a cash bar. Raffle baskets and a silent auction will be available.
