Historical society welcomes speaker
The Peters Creek Historical Society welcomes Todd DePastino of Mt. Lebanon, executive director of the Veterans Breakfast Club, as guest speaker for the society’s meeting at 7:30 p.m. June 28 at Wright’s United Methodist Church, 788 Venetia Road, Peters Township.
His topic will be on the women of World War II. The public is welcome.
The mission of the Veterans Breakfast Club is to create communities of listening around veterans, their stories and to ensure that this living history will never be forgotten.

Bethel Park library presents author
Bethel Park Public Library will present author Walter G. Meyer speaking via Zoom about his latest book, “If You Weren’t Here, This Would Not Be Happening: Plogs from My Life,” which includes stories of his growing up in Bethel Park.
The program is at 7 p.m. June 30. The book is a collection of essays about Meyer’s life, written during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Benefit run in Peters Township
City Mission’s sixth annual Mission Possible run is scheduled for 8 a.m. Aug. 27 at Peterswood Park, 750 Bebout Road, Peters Township.
The event benefits Crabtree Kovacicek Veterans House, a 22-bed rehabilitative shelter for homeless veterans. AccuTrex Products Inc. has offered to match every dollar raised up to $10,000.
Along with the in-person run/walk at the park, there is a virtual component this year. You can choose your own route and run or walk any time between Aug. 1-7 to participate.
The in-person registration costs $25, which includes your event T-shirt. The virtual event costs $35, which covers the shipping and handling of your T-shirt sent right to your door.
