Babysitting course
An American Red Cross Babysitting Training Course will be held from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the South Fayette Township Building, 515 Millers Run Road.
The program aims to help youth ages 11 to 16 provide confident, capable care to infants and children ages 10 and younger.
Cost is $112. Masks are required.

College Club meets
The College Club of Carnegie will meet Oct. 9 at Chartiers Country Club in Robinson Township. “Fabulous Fall” is the theme.

Elks card party
Pittsburgh South Hills Elks will host a card party on Oct. 23 at the Elks lodge, 2789 South Park Road, Bethel Park.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be served at noon. The event features a Chinese auction.
The cost is $20 per person, with the money raised going toward Elks charity projects. For tickets, call 412-831-0616.
Jewish Discovery Club
The Jewish Discovery Club will be held for children ages 5 to 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sundays at Chabad of the South Hills, 1701 McFarland Road, Mt. Lebanon.
Participants will learn to read Hebrew at their own pace and also learn about Jewish holidays and traditions through stories of history and resilience.
Classes start Oct. 10. No membership is required.

South Hills Coin Club
The South Hills Coin Club will be held at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. Members and the general public are invited.
This month’s program is on 1933 coins. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes awarded. Applications are being accepted for membership.

Theater director speaks
The guest speaker for the South Park Women’s Club next meeting will be Lorraine Mszanski, executive director of South Park Theater.
Her responsibilities include getting permission for plays to be staged, finding and casting actors, organizing rehearsals and more. She will speak more about her job and what it entails, and maybe share what to expect next season.
The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Oct. 18 in the South Park Township Community Center Room. In addition to the guest speaker are a short business meeting and dessert.
Women from all communities are welcome to attend.
Card party and basket raffle
St. Valentine Women’s Guild/Christian Mothers, a part of Our Lady of Hope Parish, is hosting their 66th Annual Card Party/Luncheon on Nov. 6. Doors open at 9:30 a.m., and lunch served at noon.

Sugarplum Shop
The Upper St Clair League for the Arts will hold its Sugarplum Shop and Art Gallery from Nov. 4-7 at the McLaughlin Run Activity Center, 1770 McLaughlin Run Road.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday.
Featured will be pottery, fiber art, stained glass, fused glass, painted gourds, cypress knee Santas, hand carved santas, polymer clay, homemade soaps, jewelry, wreaths, pillows, center pieces, purses, covered notebooks and Susan Castriota’s patentedmicro-wave lids.
More than 25 local artists will be featured, and a portion of the sales will be given as an art scholarship to an Upper St. Clair High School student.
