PARK PARTY
Party in the Park, the Bethel Park Library fundraiser, will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. April 23 at the South Park Theatre.
The family-event features heavy appetizers, beer, wine, soft drinks, music and theater as well as basket and 50/50 raffles.
Tickets are $40 each. Children 12 and under are free.

PETERS CREEK
The Peters Creek Historical Society will present the “Circus Is Coming To Town” at 7:30 p.m. April 25 at Wrights United Methodist Church in Venetia.
Richard Gaetano will present the program that tells the story about the Greatest Show on Earth and who were PT Barnum and James A. Bailey.

BP LIBRARY
The Bethel Park Library will hold a family STEM play day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 23. Hands-on activities and demonstration incorporating science, technology, engineering and math will be available for all ages. Children under 10 need to be accompanied by an adult.
A pretzel party will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 26 in recognition of National Pretzel Day.
Participants will learn the history of the pretzel and how to make them. Grades 2-4 are eligible. Registration is required.

SOUTH HILLS ELKS
The Pittsburgh South Hills Elks Lodge is hosting a pasta dinner from noon to 7 p.m. May 14.
Tickets are $15, and proceeds from the dinner will offset the cost of shipping donated items to Ukraine.

LEBO GUARDS
Mt. Lebanon Recreation Department is seeking new and experienced lifeguards at its outdoor swim center this summer.
Pay range is $13 to $15 per hour.

PET DONATIONS
The Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road, is collecting food, toys and other needed items as part of its pet ministry.
Merlin’s Cat Rescue in Carnegie and South Hills Pet Rescue in South Park will receive all donations collected during the drive running through May.
The church has partnered with Creatures of The Creator Pet Ministry, which selects a variety of nonprofit organizations to collect items from its congregation and the public.
A doghouse-shaped donation station has been set up in the church transept.

STAGE 62
Stage 62 will present Meet the Wonderettes in May at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall, 300 Becchwood Ave., Carnegie.
Performances are at 8 p.m. May 12-14 and 19-21 as well as at 2 p.m. May 15 and 22.
The off-Broadway production is set at a 1958 Springfield High School prom and involves four girls, their hopes and dreams.
Laura Barletta, Mired Roddy, Ivy Ferris and Tess Walsh play Cindy Lou, Betty Jean, Missy and Suzy in the classic that includes hits such as “Lollipop,” “Dream Lover,” “Stupid Cupid,” and “Lipstick on Your Collar.”
Advanced tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for seniors, students and groups. Tickets at the door are $25/$20.

FAMILY DAY
The Pittsburgh Opera will hold its first family day from 10 a.m. to noon May 7 at the Bitz Opera Factory, the organization’s headquarters in the Strip District.
The event includes four different activities:
• A musical instrument “petting zoo” where volunteers from the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) will show, discuss, and demonstrate the wide range of musical instruments often found in an opera’s orchestra.
• A voice lesson led by a member of Pittsburgh Opera. Children will learn about different voice types, how to use proper breath support, how to project their voices, and more.
• Dance/Movement/Choreography where the experts from Attack Theatre will explain and demonstrate different kinds of dancing and creative movement, as well as discuss the art of choreography.
• Prop making where children will learn what goes into making common opera props, and make their own props.
There is no minimum age to attend, however parents/guardians must accompany children younger than high school age.

LIBRARY APP
The Bethel Park Library has introduced the new Allegheny County Libraries mobile app. It can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching the library.
The app allows access to cardholders’ checkout records and reading history. Cardholders can also create a digital library card, self-check out items and find links to popular resources, including eBooks, databases and RAD passes.

SHIM EVENT
SHIM will host its annual fundraising event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 14 at its Bethel Park center, 5301 Park Ave.
Tickets are $25 per adult and $10 for children. Prices rise to $30/$15 after May 1.
The event will include games, food, tours of the SHIM food pantry, cultural dances and music.

Hit The Trail, a five-kilometer run, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 18 at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center, Meredith Drive, Venetia.

BEER BLAST
Tickets for the Gilfillan Farm Barnyard Beer Benefit are on sale through EventBrite.
Tickets are $80 each. A designated driver ticket is available for $40.
The benefit will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. May 28 at the farm located at the corner of Route 19 and Orr Road.
The event includes entertainment, craft beer, local food and live music.
Proceeds will be donated to the Gilfillan Farm Restoration Project. The property and buildings are used to educate the public as to life on a traditional farm in Pennsylvania and is an historical and cultural landmark.
