BOOK SALE
The Community Library of Castle Shannon will be holding its fall book sale from 2 to 7 p.m. Sept. 15; 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sept. 16, and 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Saturday, a bag of books will cost $5. There will be a wide assortment of fiction and nonfiction books, as well as DVDs, puzzles and children’s books.
WACVA MEETS
The Women’s Army Corps Veterans’ Association will resume regular monthly meetings at 11 a.m. Sept. 10 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall on Fifth Avenue in Pittsburgh.
Discussions include: Stand Down, the Veteran’s Day Parade, Wreaths Across America, the Vietnam POW/MIA Vigil, the annual “adoption” of a female veteran and family for the holidays, as well as several other fundraisers.

BPWC MEETS
The Bethel Woman’s Club will meet Sept. 21 at the South Hills Elks Lodge located at 2789 South Park Rd. in Bethel Park. There will be a social gathering at 11:30 with lunch served at noon.

ROTARY BBQ
The 33rd annual Upper St. Clair-Bethel Park Rotary Club chicken bbq will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sept. 17 at Bethel Park High School.
Tickets are $15, and the price includes half of a chicken, baked beans, chips, roll, dessert and a raffle ticket with the chance to win prizes.

QUILT SHOW
The Mon Valley Quilt Club will present its 2022 show titled, “Log Cabin Fever,” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 16 and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at the YMCA in Monongahela.
In addition to the club’s displays, vendors will sell patterns, fabrics, and needed sewing items. There will also be a prize raffle. Proceeds from the event benefits the club’s scholarship fund for a local high school senior.
HAUNTED TRAIL
Volunteers are needed to help with the Peters Township Haunted Trail. Ages 13 or older are needed as scene actors or storytellers to lead groups through the trail while narrating the tale.
Preliminary meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12 and 26 at the community recreation center. The time for the Sept. 19 meeting has yet to be determined. A walk-through will take place at 6 p.m. Oct. 3.
The trail starts at the community recreation center in Peterswood Park.

The Haunted Trail operates Oct. 7 and 8 from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Fee is $5 per person. A Haunted Trail for kids ages 8 and under will be held from 6 to 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 8. Reservations are required for the one-day-only kids trail. Space is limited.

CARD PARTY
The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians St. Anne Division 22 will hold its annual Irish Fling card party from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 1 at St. Benedict Hall at the St. Winifred Campus located at 550 Sleepy Hollow Rd. in Mt. Lebanon.
Admission is $15 and includes lunch, beverages and an Irish auction.

A grandparent social will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Peters Township Community Center, located at 700 Meredith Drive in Venetia.

SHWC MEET
The South Hills Women’s Cub will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Scott Park Lodge in Scott Township.

BP LIONS
The Bethel Park Lions Club will hold its annual fall fish fry on Sept. 16 in the pavilion at Lions Park on Irishtown Road.
Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dinner will be served from 4 to 7 p.m.
Meals include fried or baked fish or fried shrimp, fries or mac and cheese, cole slaw and a drink for $15. No baked fish or mac and cheese will be available at lunchtime. Kids’ meals are available for $5.
Proceeds benefit Lions Club charities.
FISH FRY
The Pittsburgh South Hills Lodge 2213 will hold a fish fry from 3 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at the club located at 2789 South Park Rd. in Bethel Park.
The fundraiser benefits veterans projects.

BIBLE STUDY
The Ruthfred Lutheran Church, 3401 South Park Road, Bethel Park, will begin its fall Bible study Sept. 14.
Each week from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. participants take a “Journey Through The Word” studying 1st Corinthians. A children’s ministry for preschool children will be provided.

FUNDRAISER
The seventh annual fundraiser for the Scheuermann’s Disease Fund will be held from 12:30 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Alpine Club, located at 220 Alpine Rd. in Bridgeville.
Fee is $15. Children 12 and under are admitted for free.
In addition to a lunch buffet, there will be a cash bar, live music, caricature artist, youth bike riding course, silent sport auction and Chinese auction.

The Bethel Presbyterian Church, located at 2999 Bethel Church Rd., is hosting a food truck festival from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 11.
In addition to food trucks, there will be live music and games.
The event is being held in conjunction with the church introducing its new contemporary service. The service begins at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.
TWEEN NIGHT
Ages 9-12 can attend a social from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center, located at 700 Meredith Dr. in Venetia.

Academy Quartet “Variations on Variations” will be presented from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sept. 16 at Sunnyhill, 1240 Washington Rd. in Mt. Lebanon.
Members of the quartet are Jorie Butler-Geyer and Leah Givelber violins, Warren Davidson, viola, and Robin Hasenpflug, cello.
The group’s repertoire combines well-loved classics of the with rarely heard gems and attractive new works.

CRAFT SHOW
The Labouré Ladies Guild of St. Catherine Labouré Parish will hold its annual “Joy of Christmas” Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at St. Louise de Marillac School and LeGras Parish Center, 320 McMurray Rd. in Upper St. Clair.
There will be 115 Artists and Crafters as well as a Chinese auction and 50/50 Raffle. Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase.
Admission is $2 and includes one ticket for the Chinese auction.
