What’s Happening Week of Jan. 9
South Hills Coin Club
The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Jan. 11, at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. All members and the general public are invited.
The program will be about P.T. Barnum. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes awarded. Applications are being accepted for membership. For more information, call 724-984-6611.
Lensshooters Camera Club
The Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters Camera Club will feature photographer Tony Tye, retired photojournalist and editor with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, as the guest speaker at Jan. 12 meeting, scheduled for 7:15 p.m. at Peters Township Public Library.
Tye has been an avid bird photographer for more that 12 years. He will show his work and talk about how to approach birds without scaring them away, local places that are good for bird photography, and lighting, exposure and use of different focus modes.

Vaccines at JCC South Hills
The Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh announces that a COVID-19 vaccine clinic will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Jan. 15 at the JCC South Hills, 345 Kane Blvd., Scott Township.
Held in partnership with American Healthcare Group LLC and Pathways Wellness Program, the clinic is for all ages, with a focus on the pediatric population.
Other vaccinations to be made available include influenza, pneumonia, shingles and Tdap. While walk-ins will be accepted, to best ensure a spot, sign up at https://booknow.appointment-plus.com/d2yy1vz4/?e_id=933 by Jan.12.
The clinic supports the JCC’s vaccine policy, which requires members and guests ages 12 and older to provide one-time proof of COVID-19 vaccine to enter the facility. Bethel Woman’s Club
The Bethel Woman’s Club will meet on Jan. 19 at the South Hills Elks Lodge, 2789 South Park Road, Bethel Park.
A social gathering at 11:30 a.m. is followed by lunch served at noon. The featured speaker is Laurence Christian, Bethel Park municipal manager.
All South Hills women are invited to attend. Sarris candy bars will be available for purchase, with profits benefiting Meals on Wheels and South Hills Interfaith Movement.

Meditation course
A new course from the Jewish Learning Institute, “Meditation From Sinai,” will be held on six Wednesdays, Jan. 29-Feb. 23, at Chabad of the South Hills, 1701 McFarland Road, Mt. Lebanon or on Zoom.

Coat drive
Pittsburgh South Hills Elks Lodge 2213, 2789 South Park Road, Bethel Park, is conducting a winter coat drive, accepting donations of new or used coats, scarves, boots, gloves and hats for people in need.
TOPS meeting
Take Off Pounds Sensible (TOPS) weight loss group Chapter No. 475, Carnegie, meets every Tuesday at Carnegie United Methodist Church, 415 Washington Ave. — Carnegie. AARP meeting
AARP Chapter No. 3016 meets the second Thursday of each month at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road. Doors open for the meeting at 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments are served at each meeting. Anyone older than 55 is welcome to attend.
