What’s Happening Week of Feb. 6
Lensshooters Camera Club
The Western Pennsylvania Lensshooters Camera Club will feature photographer Scott Goldsmith of Pittsburgh as the guest speaker at the meeting scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Feb. 9 at Peters Township Public Library.
Goldsmith will share his knowledge about light, composition and getting close. He has photographed feature stories for a magazines including National Geographic, Life, Time, Fortune, People, Sports Illustrated, Politico, Rolling Stone and U.S. News & World Report.
His work has taken him to the jungles of Costa Rica, the swamps of Jamaica, the slums of Haiti, caves, deserts, and several rides on Air Force One with the president. He has worked in 49 of the 50 U.S. states and 19 foreign countries.

Parents’ Night Out
A “Parents’ Night Out” event for children is scheduled from 6 to 8:45 Feb. 11 at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center.
The evening will feature Valentine’s Day-themed gym games, crafts and pizza. Cost is $15 for members and $23 for nonmembers.

Coin show
The South Hills Coin Club will hold its 62nd-anniversary coin show from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel-Pittsburgh South, 164 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park. Admission is free.
The event is the second-largest annual coin show in southwestern Pennsylvania, with about 40 tables. For more information, call 724-984-6611.
Bethel Woman’s Club
The Bethel Woman’s Club will meet Feb. 16 at the South Hills Elks Lodge, 2789 South Park Road, Bethel Park. A social gathering at 11:30 a.m. is followed by lunch at noon.
The featured speaker will be Bethel Park Officer Sean Gorman, who will talk about safety features being implemented in the community and provide information on the Crime Watch Program.
All South Hills women are invited to attend. Sarris candy bars will be available, with profits benefiting Meals on Wheels and South Hills Interfaith Movement.

Presidents Day program
Presidents Day Fun is scheduled from 2 to 3 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center.
The program, for children ages 6 to 10, features crafts and games while learning about some of the 46 U.S. presidents

Welcome Home Kits for vets
In partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Elks National Veterans Service Commission has pledged to help end veteran homelessness, and ensure that every veteran has the safe, stable home he or she deserves.
Elks can help by providing Welcome Home Kits of needed supplies to help these veterans establish their home. Items requested include dishes, pots, pans, glasses, oven mitts, baking sheets, toothpaste, shampoo, soap, shower liner and rings, toilet paper, paper towels, light bulbs, toaster, trash can and bags, dish soap, all-purpose cleaner, broom, mop, bucket, sponge, laundry basket, detergent, coffee maker, microwave oven, pillows and blankets, and bedding for full size.

Chalk art program
Creative Kids’ Chalk Art is scheduled for 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center, 700 Meredith Drive.

MOM group meets
Moms Outreach Monthly will meet from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 16 at the Peters Township Community Recreation Center, 700 Meredith Drive.
Guest speaker is Dr. Tonja DiCamillo of McMurray Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine, who will present topics regarding infants, toddlers and youths, and will answer questions.

TOPS meeting
Take Off Pounds Sensible (TOPS) weight loss group Chapter No. 475, Carnegie, meets every Tuesday at Carnegie United Methodist Church, 415 Washington Ave. — Carnegie.
The cost to attend the meetings is $5 per month. Classes begin at 3:30 p.m. with a weigh in and run from 4 to 5 p.m. For more information, call Francis at 412-818-7489.
AARP meeting
AARP Chapter No. 3016 meets the second Thursday of each month at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road. Doors open for the meeting at 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments are served at each meeting.
Anyone older than 55 is welcome to attend. The chapter has 259 members and has travel, programs and charity work.
