What’s Happening – Week of July 10
SUMMER BASH
An end-of-summer bash will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 13 at Simmons Park in Bethel Park.
There will be sidewalk chalk competitions, caricature artists, skits performed by the South Park Theatre, free Rita’s Ice, yard games like cornhole and giant jenga, public works mini cars and plow display as well as giveaways by local businesses.

FREE CONCERT
No Bad JuJu will be featured from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 at Millennium Park.
The free concert is presented by the municipality of Bethel Park and is part of its park and play initiative.
In addition to the live music, there will fun, games and food trucks.

SUMMER CAMPS
Summer day camps for ages 7 to 11 will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park.
Beach Week begins July 11. Blast From The Past starts July 18. Out Of This World begins July 25.
Fee is $35 ($53 for non-members) per week per child.
Participants can register for one week or all three sessions.
Additionally, Playground Pals for ages 4 to 6 will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Elm Grove Park Shelter located at 250 Thompsonville Rd. in McMurray.
Week one, on Aug. 1, 3 and 5, is themed It’s A Small World. Week two begins Aug. 8 and features the Wild West. Week three begins Aug. 15 and is themed Shipwrecked.

PT MOVIE NIGHT
Christmas in July will be celebrated when the Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department presents Christmas Vacation during movie night on July 22. The show starts approximately at 9 p.m. at the Peterswood Park amphitheater.
Free Kona Ice will be served from 8 to 9 p.m. While supplies last, there will be free popcorn, giveaways and a guest appearance by Santa.

RECYLING
The Pennsylvania Resources Council (PRC) will collect electronics for recycling from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 12, 19 and 26 as well as from 2 to 5 p.m. July 14, 21 and 26 at the Flora Park Garden Center lot on Corrigan Road in South Park.

Participants will pay a fee to dispose of some materials (such as televisions and computer monitors) while other items (such as cell phones and computer towers) will be accepted for free.
Autumn e-waste collections will move to North Park.
SENIOR LUNCH
Chabad of the South Hills will host a senior luncheon at noon July 20.
The Mt. Lebanon Fire Department will present a safety program. In addition, there will be raffles for prized.
Suggested donation is $5 per person.

BP LIBRARY
The Bethel Park Public Library will host the following:
• What’s Cookin’? at 2 p.m. July 13 for children in grades K-4. Participants will listen to a beach or ocean-themed story and then a delicious dish to accompany the story.
• Sea Turtles, Save Turtles at 1:30 p.m. July 27 for grades K-6. Participants will learn about some of the challenges sea turtles are facing, and why it’s so important to work toward saving them through the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium’s second chance program.
• Zen Gardens at 6:30 p.m. July 18 for grades 7 and up. Participants will make a sea life zen garden to help bring mindfulness and relaxation to your day. This meditative garden will relieve stress and bring pleasant thoughts of the beach.

TRIVIA NIGHT
Bethel Park Public Library and South Park Theatre have joined forces to create the ultimate Musical Theatre Trivia Night.
Teams of four will battle through multiple rounds of trivia about productions old and new at 6 p.m. July 13 at the theater located at Brownsville Road and Corrigan Drive.
Each member of the winning team will receive a complimentary ticket to any 2022 Mainstage production. Concessions will be available.
CHABAD CLASS
Kabbalah of the Aleph Bet, a ladies learning course, will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesdays, July 19 and 26 as well as Aug. 2 at Chabad of the South Hills. Fee is $18. RSVP to batya@chabadsh.com/.
JAZZ PROGRAM
“The Great Women of Jazz” will be presented July 21 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall, 300 Beechwood Ave. in Carnegie.
Entertainers Jessica Lee and Mark Strickland will perform and explore songs celebrating singers of the early years of the Blues of Mamie Smith and Bessie Smith and the Gospel music of Mahalia Jackson.
They will also journey into the Jazz Era featuring songs from Pittsburgh’s own Maxine Sullivan and those she influenced: Billie Holiday; Sarah Vaughan; Ella Fitzgerald and Peggy Lee. Then they will enter the crossover genre of “Rhythm, Jazz & Blues” with the songs of Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Roberta Flack.
Tickets range from $15 to $20.

LADIES NIGHT
A women’s night out will be held at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Chabad of the South Hills.
Participants will create their own glass-fused Mezuzah cover.
