OLH FESTIVEL

Our Lady of Hope Parish summer festival will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Aug. 10 to 13 on the St. Valentine Church grounds located at 2710 Ohio St. in Bethel Park.

There will be rides, games and activities as well as nightly entertainment, food trucks, bingo, gift baskets and cash raffles.

RINK CLOSED

The Mt. Lebanon public ice rink will be closed Aug. 1 to 18 for routine maintenance. Phones will answer weekdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

CLUB LEBO

A teen night and pool party will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Mt. Lebanon outdoor swim center.

Mt. Lebanon middle school students in grades six through eight can attend.

Admission is $8 ($6 before Aug. 11).

The Club Lebo, a lock-in program, offers events throughout the year for middle school students in an unstructured, yet supervised, environment.

GOLF OUTING

The 21st annual Crusader Classic Golf Outing will be held Aug. 29 at the Chartiers Country Club.

Golf begins with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Reception will be held at 4 p.m. followed by dinner and awards from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the Bishop Canevin High School tuition assistance program and campus improvements.

TEEN KICKBALL

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold a kickball night for teens, ages 13-17, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 11 on the grasshopper field in Peterswood Park.

CORN HOLE

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a corn hole tournament from 6 to 8 p.m. Au. 11 at the Peterswood Park amphitheater.

Ages 18 and over are eligible. A team consists of two players.

FOLK MUSIC

Calliope: The Pittsburgh Folk Music Society is presenting the group Well Strung under the tent at Schenley Plaza on Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m.

This concert is the second of three summertime concerts presented at Schenley Plaza. No tickets are needed, but Calliope will be collecting tips for the artists.

Well Strung is based in Slippery Rock and has been playing traditional and progressive bluegrass since June 2004.

AARP PICNIC

AARP Chapter 3016 will host its summer picnic on Aug. 16 at Scott Park.

Additionally, the group meets the second Tuesday of each month, year round, at the Unity Presbyterian Church located at 1146 Greentree Road. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Ages 55 and older can attend.

TOPS MEETING

TOPS Chapter 475 meets year-round at the Carnegie United Methodist Church located at 415 Washington Ave.

Formally known as Take Off Pounds Sensible, dues are $5 per month.

Weigh-ins are at 3:30 p.m. Classes run from 4 to 5 p.m.

BOWLERS WANTED

Mature female bowlers of all skill levels are wanted to participate in a bowling league on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. at the Mt. Lebanon Lanes. Action starts Aug. 31 and continues for 33 weeks.

DOG DAYS

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will celebrate the dog days of summer from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Aug. 2 at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park.

Ages 3 to 5, accompanied by an adult, can participate. The event will include water games as well as an event to create an artistic masterpiece with water spray and paint. Appropriate clothing should be worn.

Fee is $5 ($8 non-members). Sign-up deadline is July 29.

KIDS REC

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold activities such as dodgeball, kickball and other favorites for youths on Aug. 9 at the community center.

Ages 6 to 9 meet from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Ages 10 to 12 meet from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).

SENIOR GAMES

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department holds monthly games for seniors from 2 to 4 p.m. at the community center.

Crazy Eights will be played Aug. 25 and Parking Lot Bingo is set for Sept. 22.

SENIOR PICNIC

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold a picnic for seniors from noon to 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park.

Grilled hot dogs or hamburgers are provided but guests are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share.

Pollinator Gardens, bat boxes, recycling and more will be discussed.

Space is limited so pre-registration is required.

AM CONCERT

Hey Joe will plays hits from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s at 10 a.m. Aug. 18 at the outdoor amphitheater in Peterswood Park.

The event is free for senior citizens and includes light breakfast options and raffle.
