CHABAD BAKE-OFF

A Pre-Purim Bake Off for Kids will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 13,, at Chabad of South Hillis, located on McFarland Road.

Ages 5-13 can participate at no cost. Space is limited.

Race for a song

The South Hills Children’s Choir hosts its debut Soles for Songs 5K race at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 26 at North Strabane Park.

Entry fee is $25. All proceeds benefit the choir.

GOLFERS WANTED

The Women’s Golf Association of Mt. Lebanon is looking for new members. The group golfs Tuesdays from April through September.

CRAFT CLASS

Blooming Yarn Flowers, a craft class, will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. March 9 in the multipurpose room of the Peters Township Community Recreation Center.

Ages 6 to 10 are eligible to create flowers for the home.

Fee is $5 ($8 for non-members).

CLUB LEBO

A post-Mardi Gras celebration will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. for all Mt. Lebanon Middle School students at the recreation center.

Fee is $6 per person. The event features live music, bingo, board games, arts and crafts, masks, beads and $1 concessions.

‘SEUSSICAL’ AT USC

Upper St. Clair High School’s Performing Arts Department will present “Seussical” in the school’s theater.

Directed by Tom Hunsberger, the curtain rises at 7:30 p.m. March 11-12 and March 17-19. A 2 p.m. matinee is offered on March 13.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students at www.usctheater.org. Adult prices increase to $15 starting on March 11.

The box office is open for in-person ticket sales from 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 7, 9, 14, 16, and one hour prior to show time.

Admission for USC senior citizens is free with a USC Gold Card. Gold Card holders must obtain their free theater tickets in person at the box office.

STATE 62 MUSICAL

“Disney’s Descendants: The Musical” will be presented by Stage 62 from March 4-6 and 11-13 at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall.

Friday performances are at 7:30 p.m. and weekend shows are at 2 p.m.

Advanced tickets are $14 for adults and $12 for children. Fee at the door is $15. Proof of vaccination is required for entry.

The play depicts Disney’s beloved heroes and royalty living happily ever after and safe from the terrifying villains and troublesome sidekicks they have banished to the magic-free Isle of the Lost until Ben, the benevolent teenage son of Belle and King Adam (The Beast), offers a chance of redemption for the troublemaking offspring of the evilest villains Maleficent, the Evil Queen, Cruella De Vil, and Jafar.

PURIM EVENT

Chabad of the South Hills presents Purim in NYC on March 17.

The event begins with Megillah Reading at 5 p.m. Dinner and activities run from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Tickets are $18 per adult and $36 per family.

ART EXHIBIT

Associated Artists of Pittsburgh presents Featured Artists Exhibition until April 2 at its Lawrenceville Gallery, located at 100 43rd St. in Pittsburgh.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Additional Saturday hours are posted online at aargh.org.

Admission to the exhibition space is free. The exhibition is open to the public

On view are works by 12 of AAP members as nominated by an exhibition committee.

From horsehair pattern ceramics to laser-cut acrylic pieces, the exhibition shows the variety of practices and styles of Pittsburgh-based artists. Exhibiting artists include Shori Sims, Derek Reese, Dan Droz, Eriko Hattori, Tina Williams Brewer, Saige Baxter, Sarah Tancred, Centa Schumacher, Sandra Moore, Ignacio Lopez, Lizzee Solomon, and Gadi Leshem.

An online artist talk will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, March 27.

PLANT SALE

Ordering is open now through March 28 for the Phipps Sustainable Plants sale. Pickup will be available rom 1 to 6 p.m. April 25 and 26 at Phipps Garden Center.

Guests are able to order from a curated selection of native plants that can be found on the website. These plants feed and foster native bees, butterflies and birds. They are also disease and pest resistant.

ADULT BASKETBALL

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department offers adult basketball pick-up games from 6 to 8 p.m. March 18.

Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).

RUMMAGE SALE

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1066 Washington Rd in Mt. Lebanon, will host a rummage sale on March 19 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items will include housewares, linens, small appliances, books and other media, children’s items, holiday decor, tools, and more. There will also be framed artwork, jewelry and a bake sale. Proceeds will benefit St. Paul’s outreach organizations.

TOPS MEETING

Take Off Pounds Sensible (TOPS) weight loss group Chapter No. 475, Carnegie, meets every Tuesday at Carnegie United Methodist Church, 415 Washington Ave., Carnegie.

Cost is $5 per month. Classes begin at 3:30 p.m. with a weigh in and run from 4 to 5 p.m.

AARP Chapter No. 3016 meets at 11:39 a.m. the second Thursday of each month at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road.
