Spring flower show at Phipps opens March 19
Sunshine and Rainbows is the theme for this spring’s flower show at the Phipps Conservatory.
Running through April 17, the display welcomes a burst of colors after a cold, gray Pittsburgh winter.
With props including a glowing sun and cascades of rainwater and blooms ranging from red to violet with fuchsia, peach, indigo and more in between, the conservatory and botanical gardens dazzle when needed most.
The exhibit features tens of thousands of spring blooms, including signature lilies, amaryllis, petunias, daffodils, tulips, hyacinths alongside lesser-known stunners like New Guinea impatiens, kalanchoe, nemesia, muscari and lobelia.
The Palm Court glows with sun as its rays reach out to oversized prop tulips.
April showers fall in the Victoria Room while floating planters form a color wheel.
A rainbow of flowers spreads out across all three display beds in the South Conservatory and there is a new Tropical Forest Hawaii exhibit to explore the plants, animals, history and culture of The Rainbow State.
There will be Himalayan blue poppy and much more for a limited four-week engagement.
Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and until 10 p.m. Fridays.
Timed tickets must be reserved in advance.
