KIDS SHOW

The Rock ‘N Roll Pet Store Kids Show will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 1 at the Peterswood Park amphitheater. Music, magic, puppets and animals will highlight the free event.

PT REC

Fairy Home Decor is the topic of a creative class being offered by the Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department.

Ages 6 to 10 will make a magical home for garden fairies out of flower pots.

The class runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. June 1.

Fee is $10 ($15 for non-members). All supplies provided.

Registration deadline is May 30.

COLLEGE CLUB

The College Club of Carnegie will meet June 4 at Atria’s Restaurant in McMurray. The social starts at 11:30 a.m. with lunch following at noon.

In addition to a scholarship awarded to a sophomore woman, the event will include a Chinese Auction to benefit the Scholarship Fund.

Women with associate and baccalaureate degrees can join the club.

SENIOR PICNIC

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation will hold picnics for seniors from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, June 8, July 13 and Aug. 10 at Shelter 4 in Peterswood Park.

Grilled hot dogs or hamburgers will be provided, but guests are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share.

Each event includes entertainment, speaker or interactive activity.

Events are free but pre-registration is required.

MYSTIC EVENT

The Mystical Psychic Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 12 at the Library Fire Hall located at 6581 Library Road in South Park.

FACEBOOK 101

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will offer a course for ages 55 and over on negotiating the ins and outs of the Facebook app. The 90-minute class meets at 10 a.m. June 17.

Participants will learn how to post, like, share and message. Attendees should bring a smartphone, tablet or laptop to the session.

Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).

Registration deadline is June 15.

FUN & GAMES

The monthly senior game on June 23 at the Peters Township Recreation Center will be Yahtzee.

Bananagrams will be featured on July 28 and Crazy Eights will be played Aug. 25.

MORNING MUSIC

The outdoor amphitheater in Peterswood Park is the site for free senior citizen entertainment from 10 to 11:30 a.m. monthly on Thursdays this summer.

The Acoustic Daze Trio will perform tunes from the 1960s and more on June 16. O’Ryan the O’Mazing is featured July 21 and musician “Hey Joe” performs on Aug. 18.

Events will include light breakfast options and raffles. Attendees should be a lawn chair.

PT CAMPS

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will offer the Little Medical School this summer.

The camps are STEAM-based programs intended to inspire young minds to explore the world of health care by offering hands-on activities, role-playing and interactive demonstrations.

Camps offered are: Wilderness Medical School from June 27-July 1; Future Veterinarian School from July 11-15; Future Doctor School from Aug. 1-5; and Teen Medical School from Aug. 8-12.

SH WOMEN’S CLUB

The South Hills Women’s Club will host a “Picnic in the Park” from 5 to 8 p.m. June 8 at the Scott Township park lodge.

The fundraiser for Mainstay Life Services will feature raffle and wine baskets, 50/50 and $2 Mystery grab bag.

Tickets are $20 per person.

GOLF OUTING

The Charlie Ross Memorial Charity Golf Outing will be held June 27 at The Club at Nevillewood.

Proceeds from the event benefit the people who receive supports from Mainstay Life Services. The nonprofit organization provides life-long, high-quality support services to ensure that people with developmental disabilities lead fulfilling lives and realize their vision of a desirable future.

Entry fees are $450 per golfer or $1,800 for a foursome.
