EVENT CHANGE

Due to the ongoing Vibrant Uptown project, the Mt. Lebanon Pumpkin Patch Parade has been canceled. However the township will hold a family event called “Trunks, Tents and Treats” from 10 a.m. to noon on Oct. 29 in the Commissioners Parking Lot, located across from the high school stadium and just above the recreation center. In addition to candy, there will be music, a costume contest, mascots and performances.

The community trick-or-treat will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.

SPOOKY FUN

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold a Spooky Science Party from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the community center. Fee is $30 ($45 non-members). Space is limited.

COIN CLUB

The South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building located at 5100 West Library Ave. The program will be on certifying coins. RAWC MEET

The Ruthfred Acres Woman’s Club (RAWC) will meet at noon Nov. 8 at the Crowne Plaza Suites.

Author Joanne Niehl will discuss her book, “Pittsburgh on Your Plate.” The cookbook is filled with 175 recipes and stories that define the city, its people, and its culture. The book includes a special Pittsburgh cookie table section featuring 30 of her favorites.

TERROR TRAIL

The Carnegie Trail of Terror will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Oct. 28-29 in Carnegie Park located on Cooks Lane.

VET SALUTE

The Bethel Park Chamber of Commerce will salute military veterans at 10:45 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Bethel Park Community Center, located on Park Avenue. The event begins with a flag presentation and introductions of veterans followed by a luncheon. Visit www.bpchamber.org to attend.

SPWC MEET

The South Hills Women’s Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Scott Park Lodge in Scott Township. A collection of non-perishable food or monetary donations will be accepted for the Greater Pittsburgh Area Food Bank, and Ed Blank will be the feature presenter. FOOD PANTRY

The Dormont Free Pantry is changing from an open-all-hours model to appointments/walk-in hours only through a partnership with the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. The pantry serves residents throughout the South Hills communities.

DIY FABRIC FLAG

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department is offering a DIY program from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 1 where ages 18 and older create a flag out of fabric and ribbon that can be displayed on patriotic holidays or year-round. TURKEY TIME

Preschool children, ages 3 to 5, can participate in Thanksgiving activities during Turkey Time. OGLEBAY TRIP

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department is offering a one-day bus trip to Oglebay on Dec. 8.

The bus departs at 12:30 p.m. and returns to the community center at 10 p.m. Tourists will visit the Wheeling Glass Museum, take a self-guided tour of the Mansion Museum, shop at the stores at The Hilltop, dine at the Wilson Lodge, then take a guided tour of the Festival of Lights.

CHABAD EVENT

My G-d: Defining the Divine, a thought-provoking six week-course from the Rohr Jewish Learning Institute that answers the most pressing questions on perceiving, defining, and approaching G-d, begins Nov. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at Chabad of the South Hills, Mt. CRAFT SHOW

The St. Raphael the Archangel Holiday Craft Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 12 at SS. Simon & Jude, 1625 Green Tree Road in Scott Township. There will be 65 tables of crafts, a Chinese Auction, a bake sale and lunch available for purchase. Admission is free.

NURSES CLUB

The Southwestern Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 15 at Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park. Scott A. Yeager, Outreach Manager, will discuss the Pennsylvania Health Insurance Exchange. All registered nurses can attend.

SWPRNC EVENT

The Southwestern Pennsylvania R.N. Club will hold its 30th annual Veterans Day program at noon Nov. 11 at the South Park Nurses War Monument on Corrigan Drive. All military nurses will be honored and a wreath will be placed at the monument. The public can attend.

JEWELRY SALE

Operation Troop Appreciation (OTA) presents its 10th annual “gently used costume jewelry sale” from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 11 and 12 at the South Park Municipal Complex, located at 2675 Brownsville Road. All items are priced between $1 and $5.

Necklaces, bracelets, rings, vintage pins, holiday pins, cufflinks and tie clips are among the items for sale. Available for purchase also are scarves, scarf jewelry and children’s items. There will also be auction items and raffle baskets. Proceeds support deployed troops and displaced veterans.

SUGARPLUM SHOP

The Upper St Clair League for the Arts will operate its Sugarplum Shop and Art Gallery from Nov. 10 to 15 at its activity center located at 1770 McLaughlin Run Road. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday as well as 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Tuesday.

Arts and crafts designed by local artists, pottery, stained glass, fiber art, fused glass and painted gourds will be among the items offered for purchase along with hand-carved saints, polymer clay, homemade soaps, jewelry, wreaths, pillows, centerpieces, purses, covered notebooks and greeting cards. An extensive gallery featuring paintings of all mediums, prints and photography will be on display.

CRAFT SHOW

The Labouré Ladies Guild of St. Catherine Labouré Parish will hold its annual “Joy of Christmas” Craft Show from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at St. Louise de Marillac School and LeGras Parish Center, 320 McMurray Road in Upper St. Clair. There will be 115 artists and crafters as well as a Chinese auction and 50/50 raffle. Lunch and snacks will be available for purchase. Admission is $2 and includes one ticket for the Chinese auction.

AARP MEETS

The AARP Chapter 3016 meets every second Thursday of the month at Unity Presbyterian Church located at 1146 Greentree Road. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. Light refreshments will be served.
