Food festival set for Oct. 15 at Heinz History Center

The Senator John Heinz History Center’s popular Hometown-Homegrown food festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 15.
Visitors can sample an assortment of foods from more than 40 local vendors representing the best of the ‘Burgh, from longtime Pittsburgh staples like Isaly’s, Wholey’s Market, and 5 Generation Bakers to emerging local businesses such as Pittsburgh Pickle and All Things Empanada.
As part of the event, there will be demonstrations on the third floor.
Chris Fennimore of WQED will show how to make multi-use dough at 10:30 a.m. At noon, “The Cheese Queen,” Megan McGinnis, will show how to create the perfect charcuterie board for the holidays.
On the fourth floor at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. artisan talks will be offered by Armful of Flowers and Oakmont Olive Oil Co.
Visitors can also explore six floors of History Center exhibitions, including Heinz and Pittsburgh: A Tradition of Innovation, which examine the region’s rich food history.
All Hometown-Homegrown activities, food samples, and History Center exhibitions are included with regular admission and free for History Center members.
Admission to the museum is $18 for adults, $15 for seniors (age 62 and up), and $9 for students. Children, aged 17 and under, are admitted for free.
