TARTAN DAY
Pittsburgh Tartan Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 15 at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, located at 2999 Bethel Church Rd. There will be vendors, clans, workshops, food, entertainers and raffles. Visit www.standrewspittsburgh.org for more details.
BINGO
A designer bag bingo will be held at 2 p.m. April 16 at the Bethel Park Community Center. Tickets are $25 per person. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the library, Evey True Value Hardware and online at Eventbrite.
FLEA MARKET
The Church of the Atonement, 618 Washington Ave. Carnegie, will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 21 and 22. On April 22, the market closes for lunch and re-opens for the bag sale at 1 p.m. There will be a variety of items from kitchen items, bedding, linens, decorations, clothing particularly women’s larger sizes, prom gowns, shoes and porcelain dolls. CHABAD EVENT
A seniors lunch will be held at 1 p.m. April 26 at Chabad of the South Hills Mt. Lebanon. An educational event on Medicare will be presented by American HealthCare Group. A $5 donation is suggested. Call 412-278-2658 to register. Deadline is April 20.
CRAFT SHOW
The Venetia Heritage Society spring craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 at the community center, located at 800 Venetia Road. Admission is free.
NURSES CLUB
The Southwestern Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. April 18 at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 4500 Hamilton Road in Bethel Park. Dennis Collins will speak on forensic nursing. For more details, call 412-886-1792.
STAR PARTY
Search the night sky for stars, planets, galaxies and nebula from 8:30 to 10 p.m. April 21 at the Peters Township Library. After learning about constellations and the Milky Way, participants will go outside to view the stars through telescopes. All ages are welcome but those 15 and under should be accompanied by an adult.
SHRED EVENT
A shredding event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon April 29 in the McMurray Elementary School parking lot in Peters Township. Each vehicle can dispose of a maximum of three boxes or bags of paper-based materials. Call 877-267-5222 for more information.
SMOOTH JAZZ
Sunnyhill Church in Mt. Lebanon will host the Paul Thompson Jazz Quartet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. April 28. Tickets are $20 at the door ($15 in advance). PANCAKE BRUNCH
Dormont AARP No. 3016 will hold a Pancake and Sausage Brunch from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 22, at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road at Potomac Avenue. Cost is $6 for adults and $3 for children under 10 for all you can eat pancakes. A bake, book and card sale will also be offered.
ATTIC SALE
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mt. Lebanon will host an attic treasures sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 22 at 1066 Washington Road. Items for sale include jewelry, purses, art, housewares, toys and small furniture as well as baked goods. No early birds or resale. 5K BENEFIT
The 16th annual Carnegie Volunteer Fire and Rescue Bureau’s 5K run and walk will be held at 8 a.m. April 29 beginning at the borough building at 1 Veterans Way. The Bethel Park Library is offering the following events:
n Wonderful Water at 10 a.m. April 17 for ages 3 to 6 with a caregiver. Stories, puppets and sensory bins will allow students to explore the water cycle and learn how water makes the world go ’round.
n Teen Tuesdays begin April 18 at 6:30 p.m. Grades 7 and up can attend the activities, play games and win prizes.

The Peters Township Library is offering the following:
n An Herbs and Spices class will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 17. Washington County Master Gardeners will discuss the role herbs and spices have played in history from the ancient Greeks to the American Indians. Participants will also learn how to freeze, dry and refrigerate them after the harvest as well as learn how to safely infuse oils to create garlic and herb oils at home.
n Making Your Myth Writing Workshop will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. April 27. Dr. George David Clark, professor at Washington & Jefferson College, will explore the tools writers employ to discover meanings through narratives. Focus will be on image-making and character development. This is a two-part series and registration is required.

PT REC
The Peters Township Recreation Department is offering the following programs at the community center, located on Meredith Drive in McMurray:
n Earth Day Wind Chimes from 6 to 7 p.m. April 19 for ages 13-17. Participants celebrate Earth Day by making colorful, beaded wind chimes. All supplies are provided. Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).
n Parking lot bingo from noon to 2 p.m. April 20 for senior citizens. Participants play from their cars and honk their horn when they get bingo. They can bring snacks and drinks to this free event.
n Feathers and Fur, part of the Homeschool Explorers program, event is for ages 6 to 10 and will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m. April 28. Participants will learn about birds and mammals and explore their environment. Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).
n Rainbow Wind Catchers will be created by ages 6 to 10 from 2 to 3 p.m. April 13 at the community center. Fee is $5 ($8 non-members).

ART SHOW
The Galleria Mall in Mt. Lebanon will host a spring art show from April 14-23. Works will be displayed throughout the first floor. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sundays. The Bethel Park Art League, McMurray Art League, Photo Section, Primary Colors, South Arts Pittsburgh, Upper Saint Clair, and Whitehall will participate. Counselors are needed for the Peters Township summer day camp, scheduled for the weeks of July 10 through Aug. 14. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Counselors works approximately 12 to 20 hours per week for a pay rate of $10.50 per hour.
