GOLF OUTING
The Bower Hill VFD golf outing will be held Sept. 24 at the Club at Shadow Lakes. Registration deadline is Sept. 1. Fee is $110 per person and includes 18 holes of golf, cart and dinner. YARD WASTE
Bethel Park is conducting yard waste collection events from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays through September at the public works complex, located at 2490 Slater Road. Residents can bring leaves, twigs, bushes, brush, and other yard debris in paper bags. Branches need to be bundled and no plastic bags will be accepted.
BIKE RIDE
The Tour the Montour will be held Sept. 23. The fundraising bicycle event offers 10-, 20- or 40-mile rides on the Montour Trail. Starting point is mile zero in Coraopolis. Discount registration is available before Sept. 1. PICKLEBALL
Mt. Lebanon recreation department is offering free pickleball clinics from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 6 and 13, and from 9 to 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. The Southwestern Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at Hamilton Presbyterian Church, 4500 Hamilton Road in Bethel Park. CAMPOUT

SF Carnival
South Fayette’s Homecoming Carnival will be held from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the high school stadium. The event is for all ages and is sponsored by the high school Student Government Association. Activities include bounce house, giant slide, dunk tank, and game. Food trucks will be available to provide dinner and dessert. The Little Green Machine marching band performs at 8. Admission is free.

The West Jefferson Hills Historical Society’s local author showcase will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 13 at the Jefferson Hills Municipal Building located at 935 Old Clairton Road. The free community event will feature author tables of multiple genres with signed copies available for purchase. Genres include Romance, Historical Fiction and Nonfiction, Inspirational, Folklore, Sports, Mystery, and Young Adult. A special Children’s Nook with five authors will have activities and crafts. Essays on favorite books by Jefferson Hills Intermediate students will be on display. There will also be food trucks from Banana Peppers, Bruster’s Ice Cream, and Coffee Tree Roasters on site.
