BLOOD DRIVE

PT LIBRARY

The Peters Township Library, located on East McMurray Road will host its annual preschool fair from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 21. The event helps caregivers gather information regarding preschool choices for their children. Representatives from area preschools and day-care centers will be available to answer questions. Among the participants so far are: John McMillan Preschool, Noah’s Ark Preschool, Positive Steps Therapy, St. John’s Catholic Preschool, Sunshine Kids, Tender Shepherd Preschool at The Bible Chapel, Children’s Therapy Center, Ivybrook Academy, St. Louise de Marillac Catholic School, and Westminster Early Childhood Program. TRAVEL SHOW

BP LIBRARY

The Bethel Park Public Library offers the following:

n Math Lab from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 26. All levels of fifth- and sixth-grade math, pre-algebra, algebra 1 and geometry will be reviewed.

n Shape UP at 10 a.m. Jan. 23 for ages 3 to 6 with a caregiver. This preschool storytime event is all about shapes.

n Personalizing Your Laptop at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17. This free, beginner’s class will cover the task bar, toolbars and folders.

n Talk Saves Lives at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 26. This American Foundation for Suicide Prevention talk provides an overview about prevention, including the most up-to-date research, and what can be done in communities to save lives. Participants learn common risk factors and warning signs associated with suicide, and how to keep themselves and others safe.

SNOW BABIES

Ages 7 to 11 can create two different baby Arctic animals by using a painting technique and paper during a Creative Kids event being held from 2 to 3:15 p.m. Jan. 16 at the Peters Township Recreation Center. BWC TO MEET

The Bethel Woman’s Club will meet Jan. 18 at the South Hills Elks Lodge 2213, located at 2789 South Park Rd. There will be a social gathering at 11:30 with lunch served at noon. Financial wellness will be the topic of discussion at 7 p.m. Jan. 18 in the Live Well Bethel Park series, which airs on the municipality’s Facebook page. Other topics and dates in 2023 include: Help for Seasonal Affective Disorder on Feb. 8; Giving back to the community on March 15, and Pet Care: Health and training tips on April 12. CHABAD STUDY

The Jewish Learning Institute will launch Book Smart, a six-part page-turner that courses through Judaism’s most important titles, and the authors who inscribed them, at 7:20 p.m. Jan. 25 at Chabad of the South Hills or via Zoom.

PT FITNESS

Registration for the Peters Township Commit To Fit Challenge is being accepted at the community recreation center or at www.peterstownship.com. The event runs from Feb. 1 to 28. There is no fee for all Peters Township Recreation Center members. Participants walk along the indoor track and document their miles. The walker with the most miles wins a prize. TEEN SOCIAL

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will hold a teen volunteer and social from 6 to 8 p.m. Jan. 31 at the community center. Ages 13 to 17 can attend and learn about working behind the scenes and helping to prep for an upcoming event. Participants can earn community service hours, learn new skills and socialize with peers.
