Carnegie Science Center to host Viking exhibit

1 min read

What if the blood-thirsty plunderers you once thought you knew were just misunderstood explorers, farmers, tradesmen who were highly skilled?

Starting now and continuing through Monday, Sept. 24, the Carnegie Science Center will host “Vikings: Warriors of the North Sea.” Visitors will get an in-depth look into Norse culture, traditions and beliefs.

The exhibit features more than 140 artifacts, some never seen before in the United States, including jewelry, keys, weapons, silver hoards, clothing, a full-size replica of a Viking ship and more. These recent archaeological discoveries shed new light on the Viking Age, dispelling long-held myths about its people, traditions and influence.
