Bethel Park woman stars with grandson in ‘Family Reunion’

Davey Knight of Monongahela and his grandmother, Ann Marie Lewis of Bethel Park, will share the stage in the Alabaster Performing Arts’ tour of “Family Reunion,” being performed July 20, 22 and 26 in Monroeville and North Huntingdon.
The inter-generational musical comedy tells the heart-warming tale of love, laughter and coming home for a colorful family of feuding cousins, picnic baskets, relay races and returning prodigals.
The show combines Alabaster’s adult and children performers to make up the Family Tree, traced back to Cain and Abel (Knight), whose descendants Kate and Abel are still fighting over the Thanksgiving wishbone. Uncle Billy (Jessie Glover), a southern gentleman with a fried chicken franchise, and Rick Reed of Brownsville, who plays “The Godfather,” croon Born To Be Wild with young Knight, while Grandma (Lewis) sings wholesome advice to the grandchildren with Humble & Kind.
Alabaster’s youth performers sing “I See the Light” from “Tangled.” The entire ensemble sings “Celebration,” “I Speak Jesus,” “Will You Be There” and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Unexpected Song.”
“‘Family Reunion’ is a story of love, laughter and coming home,” said Lewis. “We all have struggles, but love always finds a remedy in this story.”
Knight, 8, and other young performers are interning while gaining professional experience in a main stage production.
