TRAIL OPENS

A grand opening celebration of the Montour Trail Southpointe Connector will be held at 11:30 a.m. June 22 at Klinger Park, 4000 Reserve Drive in Cecil Township. The new spur connects the trail to Southpointe.

FLEA MARKET

The Church of the Atonement, located at 618 Washington Ave. in Carnegie, will hold its flea market on the lawn from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 24. Items for sale will include an electrical panel box, mint stamps, silver coins, puzzles, small appliances, framed art, slime and pet fencing. Vendors can still rent a space by calling Joyce at 412-276-0366.

TOUCH A TRUCK

A touch-a-truck event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon July 8 in Peterswood Park. This free, family event features a variety of vehicles and is sponsored by the Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department. Call 724-942-5000 for more details.

PT CONCERTS

The Peters Township 2023 Summer Concert and Events series starts with a feature performance by the Washington Symphony Orchestra on June 21.

All concerts and events are held Wednesdays at the Peterswood Park Amphitheater and begin at 7 p.m. Food trucks will be available. Beer and wine are permitted at concerts only.

Other dates and featured performers throughout the summer are:

n June 28 – Let’s Groove Tonight, the nation’s No. 1 Earth Wind and Fire Tribute Band

n July 5 – The Clintones, featuring the Ultimate ’90s

n July 12 – The Fabulous Gemstones, a Vegas-style show and dance band

n July 19 – The Jaggerz, oldies music

n July 26 – Tres Lads, rock

n Aug 2 – The Mazeroskis, classic rock

n Aug. 9 – New Vintage Big Band (6 p.m. start)

n Aug. 23 – Ruff Creek, country-rock concert. (6 p.m. start)

n Aug. 30 – Still Surfin’, a Beach Boys Tribute band. (6 p.m. start)

On Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. a special event themed Wild World of Animals will be held. No beer or wine is permitted.

FOOD TRUCKS

The Truckin’ Triangles will be featured from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 16 at the Food Truck Fridays in Peterswood Park.

Other events are July 7 (Two and a Half Greeks); July 21 (Mobile Chef); Aug. 4 (StrEat Food); Aug. 18 (Beneventui Pizza Factory); Sept. 1 (Johnny’s Seafood Shack) and Sept. 22 (Bali Brothers Kitchen).

AUP EVENT

The Association of University People will meet for dinner at 5:30 p.m. June 21 at Pusadee’s Garden in Lawrenceville. KO REUNION

FLEA MARKET

The ladies guild of St. Catherine Labouré Parish will hold its annual flea market “Timeless Treasures” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, July 21, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, in the LeGras Parish Center (lower level), 320 McMurray Road, Upper St. Clair. Sale items will include jewelry, gently used children’s clothing to size 6, toys, decorative items, knick-knacks, kitchen items, holiday decorations, linens, tools, books, some furniture and much more. There will also be a boutique offering better quality items. Due to fire restrictions, strollers are not permitted inside the center.

GARDEN TOUR

The Mt. Lebanon Public Library Garden Tour will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 25. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 the day of the tour. Seven distinctive gardens will be featured. Tickets are available at the circulation desk at the library or online at www.mtlebanonlibrary.org/gardentour.

HAM RADIO

The Washington Amateur Communications (WACOM) will hold its amateur radio field day from 2 p.m. June 24 to 2 p.m. June 25 at the Washington County Public Safety Training location at Mingo Creek County Park. The log cabin below the observatory will be staffed with operators who will participate in the nationwide exercise and one of the county’s Emergency Communications vehicles will be set up on site and activated. All activities will take place without the use of normal power, relying on other methods of power including solar and battery

SUMMER CAMP

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department will offer the following camps:

n Chess from 2 to 5 p.m. for ages 5 to 12 from June 26-30

n Storybook Adventure Theater for ages 7 to 12 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. from June 26-30

The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department offers the following activities for senior citizens:
