TOUCH A TRUCK

Bethel Park will conduct a Touch A Truck event from noon to 3 p.m. May 21 at the public works garage, located at 2490 Slater Road. This free event features fire, EMS, towing, dump and public works vehicles. There will be a 40-ton sand box, goats, Bella the pony, Louie the Pirate, face painting and a chance to win free passes to the Pittsburgh Motor Speedway. Call 412-780-2676 for more details.

LEGOS CAMP

A Legos Camp will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. June 12 to 16 at the Peters Township Recreation Center. Ages 6 to 12 can participate and will design mazes, robots, cars and buildings. The program fosters creativity and stresses imagination while solving challenges. Fee is $265 ($398 for nonmembers). Sign-up deadline is June 9. CRAFT SHOW

Applications are due May 22 for the Christmas Affair Craft Show that is held annually at John McMillan Presbyterian Church, located at 875 Clifton Road in Bethel Park. QUILLING

Woodville will conduct a course in paper quilling from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursdays, June 1, 8 and 15, at the historic landmark located at 1375 Washington Pike in Collier. DOG WALK

SAFE DRIVING

A senior citizen driver improvement course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 15 at the Upper St. Clair recreation department. The state Department of Transportation-approved class is designed for drivers age 55 and older. There is no testing or behind-the-wheel driving. It is a refresher of driving skills and knowledge of the rules of the road. Participants receive a multi-year discount on auto insurance. GARDEN MART

The Giant Oaks Garden Club’s annual plant sale and garden market will be held from 9 a.m. to noon May 20 at the Peters Township Public Library, located on East McMurray Road. BLOOD DRIVE

CARNEGIE EVENT

Molly Alphabet will be featured from 7 to 8:30 p.m. May 17 at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library and Music Hall located at 300 Beechwood Ave. The trio plays classic country music blended with a Pittsburgh flair. PT REC

The Peters Township Recreation Department is offering the following programs:

n Teen rec night from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 17 for ages 13-16 at the recreation center. There will be organized gym games and refreshments. Fee is $5 ($10 nonmembers).

n Red, White & Blue Day from 2 to 3 p.m. May 18 for ages 3-5 accompanied by an adult. This fun and patriotic event honors Memorial Day. Fee is $5 ($10 nonmembers) per child.

n Friday Night Flicks beginning at dusk at the Peterswood Park amphitheater. Features are: “Sonic2” on May 19; “The Mighty Ducks” on June 9, “Minions” on July 14; “Top Gun” on July 28; “Puss In Boots” on Aug. 11; “Cruella” on Sept. 8 and the double-feature of “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Friday The 13th” on Oct. 13.

n Mayflowers for ages 3-5 from 4 to 5 p.m. and ages 6-10 from 6 to 7 p.m. on May 23 at shelter 4 in Peterswood Park. Participants explore the park for flowers and learn about things plants need to grow.

ELKS DINNER

SP FUN

Park ‘Til Dark will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. May 20 in South Park. This free, family-friendly event features activities from Sunrise Yoga, Learn for Older Adults, led by Venture Outdoors, basketball, bocce, Special Olympics leisure walk, mushroom foraging, trail running, dek hockey clinics and garden tours. Children’s activities are hosted by Mad Science. Entertainment will feature music from Dave Shepherd followed by The Shelf Life String Band. The day concludes with Pour At the Park from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the museum building, located at the fairgrounds. Pour in the Park is the major fundraiser for the Allegheny Country Parks Foundation and its mission to improve, conserve and restore its nine recreation areas. Pour tickets range in price from $20 to $60 and include craft beer, wine, cider and spirits tasting, samplings of food from local restaurants, live entertainment and raffle baskets. The Peters Township Library will host a U.S. Army War College panel discussion from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. May 23. Applying Strategic Empathy: From Humanitarian Relief to Great Power Competition, will be the topic of discussion. Senior officers will appear in person. The Peters Township Chamber of Commerce will host a Marketing Your Business workshop from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. May 23 at 1000 Horizon Vue Dr. in Canonsburg. Tickets are $25 ($35 nonmembers). The chamber’s seventh annual bowling fundraiser will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. June 1 at the Meadows Racetrack & Casino. Tickets are $100 for individuals and $500 for up to six people on a team. The Peters Township Parks and Recreation Department offers the following activities for senior citizens:

n Picnic on June 14 featuring Matt Tichon. Hot dogs and hamburgers are provided but guests should bring a covered dish or dessert to share.

n Music Mornings at 10 a.m. at the outdoor amphitheater in Peterswood Park. Senior citizens enjoy light breakfast options as they listen to Tim & Stacy on June 29; Dr. Zoot Duo on July 27 and The Keystone Chorus on Aug. 31.

CONCERT

“Songs my Mother Taught Me” will be featured from 7:30 to 9 p.m. May 26 at the Academy Concerts at Sunnyhill Church, located on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon. As a family ensemble consisting of violinist Monique Mead, harpist Isabel Cardenes, and pianist Tino Cardenes, the Trio con Brio presents a program featuring strange-but-true stories of their musical lives on and off the stage. Performing solo and in mixed ensembles, music includes works by Beethoven, Dett, Gershwin, Gliere, and Piazzolla sprinkled with Mother Goose rhymes and Cuban rhythms. Tickets are $20.
