FLEA MARKET

The Church of the Atonement, located at 618 Washington Ave. in Carnegie, will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23. The market will close from noon to 1 p.m. on Saturday to prepare for the bag sale. Bags will be provided. Items for sale include kitchen gadgets, linens, clothing, holiday decorations, large patio umbrella with stand, portable sewing machine, pet carrier. No books or jewelry will be available. YARD WASTE

Bethel Park will hold its final yard waste collection events for 2023 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 16 at the public works complex at 2490 Slater Road. Residents can bring natural yard debris in paper bags (no plastic), and branches need to be bundled.

FOOD FEST

A Mediterranean food festival will be held from noon to 8 p.m. Sept. 22 and 23 and from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at St. George Orthodox Church, located at 3230 Washington Pike in Bridgeville. Among the featured items will be abouli, meat pies, spinach pies, grape leaves, Kibbee and baklawa. Take-out is available and orders can be taken online. AUDITIONS

Prime Stage is holding open auditions for its 27th “Season of Courage and Discovery” from noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 16 and from 4 to 9 p.m. Sept. 17 at its studio located at 840 W. Saw Mill Run Boulevard. ART SHOW

South Arts Pittsburgh is holding an art show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Schoolhouse Art & History Center, located at 2600 South Park Road. The Bethel Park Historical Society will also hold its open house from noon to 3 pm and conduct tours. The event also coincides with the Bethel Park Volunteer Fire Company open house across the street.

COIN CLUB

The South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building, 5100 W. Library Ave. The program will be on early half dimes and dimes. All members and the general public can attend. There will be a 50/50 raffle and children’s prizes to be awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. SF CARNVIAL

South Fayette’s Homecoming Carnival will be held from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sept. 14 at the high school stadium. The event is for all ages and is sponsored by the high school Student Government Association. Activities include bounce house, giant slide, dunk tank, and game. Food trucks will be available to provide dinner and dessert. The Little Green Machine marching band performs at 8. Admission is free.

BOOK SALE

The Friends of the Community Library of Castle Shannon will hold a fall book sale Sept. 14 to 16 in the lower level community room at 3677 Myrtle Ave. The hours are 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Saturday will also be Bag Day where you can fill a bag with books for only $5.

Peters Township is offering the following programs at the library, located at 616 East McMurray Rd.

A star party will be held from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 16. The Amateur Astronomers of Pittsburgh present the program on the Milky Way galaxy and constellations. Participants can look through telescopes to see the stars and planets. Ages 15 and under should be accompanied by an adult.

Fair Districts PA will offer a short education workshop on redistricting and the campaign to fix Harrisburg from 2 to 3 p.m. Sept. 16 .

ART FESTIVAL

Mt. Lebanon’s annual juried arts festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in the Academy lot, located on Academy Avenue behind The Saloon and Rollier’s Hardware. The artist’s market, sponsored by the Mt. Lebanon Partnership, will include 60 to 80 booths featuring professional quality original art in a variety of media. The free event will also offer food and entertainment.

ADOPT A PET

The Creatures of The Creator (COTC) Pet Ministry of Unity Presbyterian Church will host Animal Adoption Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 30 in the parking lot and indoors at 1146 Greentree Road. Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, Animal Advocates, Cats N’At, 4 Walls Fosters, Furkins Rescue, The Great Pyrenees Club of Western Pennsylvania Rescue, People’s Animal Care & Rescue and Wishbone Pet Care/Animal Sanctuary will be among the organizations supplying healthy, adoptable pets to the rain-or-shine event. BIKE TOUR

Tour the Montour will be held Sept. 23. The event offers cycling events ranging in distances from 10 miles to a century (62 miles) on the Montour Trail beginning at Mile Zero in Coraopolis. There are four rest/snack/water stops along the way as well as a safety patrol. A post-ride lunch is included at the Forest Grove Sportsmen Club, which is at about mile marker 1.5 on the trail.
