PILATES

A beginner-friendly mat pilates class will be offered from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Wednesdays beginning May 13 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Upper St. Clair. Fee is 460 for the course, which will build core strength, mobility, and improve posture.

PLANT SALE

The Giant Oaks Garden Club will sponsor its 25th annual plant sale and garden Market on May 16 at Peters Township Public Library located at 616 East McMurray Road. The sale runs from 9 a.m. to noon, rain or shine and the time is strictly enforced.

A variety of hanging baskets, annuals and potted perennial plants selected from members’ gardens will be available for purchase as well as container gardens of herbs and vegetables. The sale also includes new and lightly used gardening items, decorations, and crafts as well as raffle baskets. Club members are available to assist and answer individual gardening questions from the public.

SPA DAY

The Spa for the Soul Ladies Spring Event, a morning of relaxation and rejuvenation celebrating the Jewish women, will be held at 11:30 a.m. May 17 at Chabad of the South Hills located at 1700 Bower Hill Rd.

Brunch, including a selection of cheesecakes, will be served. Sharon Saul, a licensed psychologist, is the guest speaker. There will also be raffles and auction prizes.

COIN CLUB

The South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. May 12 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building located at 5100 West Library Ave. All members and the general public can attend. This month’s program will be alternative hobby night. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes will be awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. FISH FRY

The Bethel Park Lions Club will hold a fish fry May 15 at Lions Park, 5757 Irishtown Road.

A limited lunch menu will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dinner is from 4 to 7 p.m. Cost is $17. Drinks are $1 each. Baked goods will be available for purchase. Patrons have their choice of fried or baked fish or shrimp with either fries or mac and cheese. All meals include coleslaw. Kids meals are also available.

LEBO REC

The Mt. Lebanon recreation department is offering the following:

Leboolympics from 4 to 6 p.m. May 28 at the high school track. Ages 5 to 12 compete in specific age groups. Entry deadline to register is May 20.

Daddy-Daughter dinner dance from 4 to 7:30 p.m. May 31 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. Kindergarten through fifth grade girls can attend. Registration deadline is May 17.

A Hockey Golf Camp will run from 8:30 a.m. to noon from July 6-10 for ages 9 to 11 and from July 13-17 for ages 12 to 14 at the ice center and golf course.

Summer camps for soccer, art, chess, science, baseball, public safety, playground and sports beginning in June. Registration is open.

Passes for the outdoor swim center. The pool opens May 23. Season passes are available for purchase online until May 12. Passes can be purchased in person at the recreation center.

VENDORS

Registration is open for local businesses and organizations that wish to set up a booth in Mt. Lebanon Park for the community’s July 4 celebration. The event runs from noon to 5 p.m. Businesses, food vendors and non-profits must register.

Additionally, high school-age workers are needed to run carnival games. They will be paid $10 per hour.

The Mt. Lebanon Uptown Market, featuring regional farmers and food producers, opens May 30. Hours are 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays through October. 31.

BRIDGEVILLE

Bridgeville Day on the Avenue will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 20 in the downtown business along Washington Avenue from Hickman Street and Bower Hill Road. An eclectic mix of local craft and food vendors will offer unique treasures and mouthwatering treats. There will be a car cruise, live entertainment, free children’s activities and fun for all ages.

PT REC

Iphone 101 will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. June 4. The session will teach the basics from adding contacts to downloading and using apps and browsing the web. Bring phone, Apple ID and password to class. Fee is $5 ($8 nonmembers). Registration deadline is June 2.

Dance Explorations Session III begins June 10 and is held from 6:15 to 6:55 p.m. Wednesdays. Ages 3 to 5 gain confidence, musicality and body awareness through ballet, jazz and tumbling. Fee is $40 ($60 nonmembers).

Craft Cutting Machine Class is held Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. through June 23. Fee is $50 ($75 nonmembers) plus material fee of $25.

Baton Twirling for ages 4 to 9 will be offered from 7 to 7:45 p.m. while twirling and strutting for ages 10 to 14 runs from 6 to 6:45 p.m. Mondays beginning May 11. Fee is $42 ($63 nonmembers).

Dance with DnB magnets for adults, ages 18 and older, on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and for youth, ages 5 to 17, Tuesdays from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Bollywood, folk, contemporary, belly-fusion dance will be featured. Fee is $150 ($225 nonmembers).

Card making for adults from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, May 18, and for youth, ages 12 to 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. June 15. Fee is $35 ($53 nonmembers). Students create hand-crafted cards with embellished envelopes. All materials provided.

Summer Day Camps will be offered for chess, volleyball, theater, sports, science and cooking. Details and registration information can be found on the website.

Babushkas & Hard Hats: This bus trip explores Pittsburgh’s steel heritage and highlights the people, places and events that shaped the Steel City. Tourists will visit the Bost Building, Carrie Blast Furnaces and Pump House while learning about the 1892 Homestead Strike. Lunch is included. The bus departs at 8 a.m. and returns at 4:30 p.m. on July 23. Fee is $210.

CONCERT

A free concert featuring the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 17 at Heinz Hall.

The program includes Respighi’s Pines of Rome, the Overture to Beethoven’s ballet The Creatures of Prometheus, Leonard Bernstein’s Three Dance Episodes from “On the Town,” and Rachmaninoff’s Isle of the Dead.

The concert also features PYSO cellist Albert Dong, the winner of the 2025-26 season conducting competition. He will lead the orchestra for Beethoven’s Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus.

PLANT SWAP

The Bethel Park Library will hold its annual plant swap May 28 through June 1 during regular business hours. The library is closed Sundays, including May 31. Visitors can either bring in plants or seeds to share or find new items to take home. Inventory is ever-changing. For those bringing items, they should be labeled if possible and in well-watered containers. Plants can be found in the Fireplace Room of the library, located at 5100 West Library Ave.

The library will also hold a Henna Art Workshop at 6:30 p.m. May 7. Participants will learn the basics of natural henna, explore traditional and modern design techniques and create patterns on paper.

Classic cars, food trucks, live music and fireworks will be featured at the Party in the Park, to be held from noon to 10 p.m. May 30 in Carnegie Park.

250 AMERICA SERIES

The Bethel Park library will celebrate America’s 250th birthday by hosting a series of speakers and programs.

At 11 a.m. on May 16, George Washington will be discussed.

The presidential election of 1800, which was America’s first contentious political contest, will be highlighted at 6:30 p.m. May 20.

Threats to the Independence of Pennsylvania’s judiciary is the topic on June 3 at 6:30 p.m.

The final in the series will be Western Pennsylvania in the Revolutionary era. Time and date are 6:30 p.m. June 23.

BP GALA

The Bethel Park Elementary School “Opening Gala” will be held Aug. 29, beginning at 6 p.m. at the new center located at 5655 Kings School Road. The formal event will feature dinner, entertainment and themed activities.

Tickets are $75, with an optional $100 “Passport to Adventure” add-on. The passport gives guests fun STEAM opportunities, portraits, and more. Tickets can be purchased with cash or check at Evey’s True Value Hardware, the Bethel Park Public Library, and the Bethel Park School District Administration Building.

Attendees are encouraged to wear formal attire as the community celebrates the opening of the district’s newest school building. Free public tours of the facility are also planned before the school’s official opening in September.

The fundraiser is sponsored by the Bethel Park Education Foundation, an independent nonprofit organization separate from the Bethel Park School District. Events such as this provide funding for initiatives, including field trips, guest speakers, and special projects, such as the $20,000 grant for the outdoor classroom at the new Bethel Park Elementary School.

LICENSES

An illegible license plate and disability placard event will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 4 at Rep. Natalie Mihalek’s office, located in Suite 2200A at 1121 Boyce Road. An Upper St. Clair police officer will be present to check and complete replacement registration forms for any Pennsylvania resident who has a license plate that is peeling, damaged, or otherwise illegible. Assistance with obtaining disability parking placards will also be available. PennDOT will then replace the license plate for free once required documentation is received. REUNION

The South Park High School’s Class of ’76 will hold its 50th reunion Aug. 21 at the Cottage, located at the South Park Fairgrounds, near the clock building. The picnic begins at noon. Tickets are $30 per person. Guests can attend. The reunion committee will provide food and cake. Classmates and guests should bring their own beverages, snacks and sides. PONY CAMP

Horses Unlimited Stables will offer a pony camp, designed specifically for beginner riders ages 5 to 10, at its private barn in South Park. While the first camp is full, a second camp has been added for Aug. 10-13. Time is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp is limited to 12 children. Campers learn to care for, groom, tack up, and ride ponies.

CRAFTER CALL

Applications are being accepted for John McMillan Presbyterian Church’s annual Christmas Affair.

Space is limited for the event scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 at 875 Clifton Road, Bethel Park.

Each year, more than 50 artisans showcase a wide variety of handmade goods and holiday gifts at the event, which also includes a festive Gingerbread House, chance auction and the Kris Kringle Kafé. Admission is free.

GRANTS

Women of Southwestern PA Inc. is accepting grant applications to benefit children and women in need in Washington, Fayette, Greene, Allegheny, Beaver and Westmoreland counties. Deadline to apply for funding requests up to $3,500 from nonprofit charities and community organizations is April 30.

To qualify, charities must have IRS 501c(3) status, request funds for specific projects which have no state or federal funding and must benefit women or children.

Women of Southwestern PA has disbursed more than $1.3 million during the past 26 years, including more than $130,000 to 47 nonprofits in 2025.

AQUA PARK

Season passes for the Peters Township Aqua Park can be purchased online at peterstownship.com or by visiting the recreation center. The facility is located at 110 Warriors Way in McMurray and is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

A season pass, which includes admission for up to four people, is $50 for residents and $100 for nonresidents. Daily admission is $3.50 per person ($7 for nonresident).

The facility is also available for rentals with two-hour time slots with 30 passes. The party room fee is $225 ($450 nonresidents). Shelter fee is $175 ($350 nonresidents). Full facility rental is available from June 1 to July 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. for residents only and for a fee of $1,000.

The 26th annual Nora Helfrich Memorial Golf Outing will be held May 21 at Lindenwood Golf Club.

This is the sole fundraiser for Tri-Community South EMS and proceeds will go toward the purchase of a Lucas Device, used when responding to cardiac arrest calls.
