NO COOK TUESDAYS

No Cook Tuesdays return to the Bethel Park Community Center beginning Oct. 6. Food trucks will be set up in the playground parking lot. Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Cousins Maine Lobster, 2.5 Greeks and Rowdy BBQ will be featured.

FESTIVAL

The Dormont Street and Music Festival will be held from 1 to 8 p.m. Oct. 10 along Potomac Ave.

The Liberty Main Stage, located at Potomac & Belrose avenues, will feature School of Rock South Hills, Connor Parente, Natalie Rogers, Gallop Gallop Gallop, André Costello, and NASH.V.ILL.

The Gold Mountain Music Stage, located at Potomac and West Liberty avenues, includes Org Dröl, Hedonism Bots, Aaron Lewinter and the Fortune, The Wild Brambles, and bsides.

Located on Espy Avenue, the Brew Garden Acoustic Tent, will showcase Gabrielle Prasad, Quarantine Bob, Kel Meadows, Iron Appalachia, Nathan Ivey, and Chris Rieger.

In addition to bands and music, there will be food trucks, a craft beverage garden, kids zone featuring family-friendly activities, games and entertainment.

OKTOBERFEST

Provincial Bethel Park will host an Oktoberfest celebration from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 8 at its senior living community located at 2960 Bethel Church Rd.

The traditional German-inspired event is open to residents, families, local seniors, and community partners. Attendees can enjoy a chef-prepared Oktoberfest menu, seasonal entertainment, and themed activities. Community tours will also be available throughout the event.

CRAFT SHOW

The South Park Women’s Club will host a craft show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Broughton Fire Hall located at 1030 Cochrans Mill Rd.

Admission and parking are free.

In addition to more than 50 skilled crafters displaying and selling their homemade wares, there will be a bake sale, refreshments for purchase, chance auction, and raffles.

PT REC

The Peters Township recreation department is offering the following one-day programs:

Pumpkin Patch Crates from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 7. During this ladies night outing, women will create a wooden centerpiece for their table, entrance way or fall decor. Fee is 15(20 nonmembers).

A Haunted Hallows cookie decorating class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 12 at the Peters Township recreation center. Ages 8 and older can attend but children under 14 must attend with a paying adult. Fee is $50 ($75 nonmembers). A $15 materials fee needs to be paid to the instructor on the day of class. DIY kits are also available for purchase for $20. Participants will learn step-by-step techniques used to decorate six Halloween-themed cookies.

Tiny Weaving from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 15. Ages 18 and older will discover the art of micro-weaving and learn to warp a pocket-sized loom and weave a miniature masterpiece using colorful yarns and textiles. Fee is 25(38 nonmembers).

Cardmaking meets from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 19. Ages 18 and older will create hand-crafted seasonal greeting cards with embellished envelopes. All tools and materials provided. Fee is 35(53 nonmembers).

Gothic Garden from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 28. Participants design a floral arrangement using blackened roses, moody mums and foraged branches. Fee is 15(23 nonmembers) plus a $25 material fee paid to the instructor on the day of the class.

DECOR CONTEST

A Halloween home-decorating contest is being held in Peters Township.

Home owners wishing to enter should register by Oct. 16. Judging will be held Oct. 20. There is no fee for residents to enter.

A list of all participating homes will be posted so citizens can drive around and check out the displays.

Winners will be announced Oct. 27.

SH CHABAD

The Kitchen of Kindness Junior Chefs Club, where children cook, learn, and give back, meets from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays at the Chabad of South Hills, located at 1701 McFarland Rd.

There are three, five-week sessions titled: Shabbat Foods from Oct. 12 to Nov. 9; Holiday Foods from Nov. 16 to Dec. 21 and International Foods from Jan. 11 to Feb. 15.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade can participate. Teen volunteers are needed.

COIN CLUB

The South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Bethel Park municipal building located at 5100 West Library Ave. All members and the general public can attend. This month’s program will be alternative hobby night. A 50/50 will be offered and children’s prizes will be awarded.

GENEALOGY

The Mt. Lebanon Genealogy Society will meet at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 in Meeting Room A of the Mt. Lebanon Library.

Kate Townsend, who is an expert in immigration, naturalization and court records, will speak on the topic of “Becoming an American: Naturalization through the Ages”.

CARD PARTY

The Pittsburgh South Hills Elks 2213 will hold a card party on Oct. 24 at 2789 South Park Rd. Doors open at 11 a.m. Lunch is served at noon.

BINGO

A bingo fundraiser for FosterCat, Inc. will be held Oct. 25 at Salvatore’s, 5001 Curry Rd. Doors open at 1 p.m.

Tickets are $50 each and include 10 bingo games (6 cards to a game) and a full course hot buffet luncheon that includes dessert and beverage.

In addition to bingo, there will be a 50/50 Raffle, pull tab tickets, basket auctions with over 75 prizes from a Smart TV and Steeler tickets as well as basket of cheer and gift cards. Baked goods will be available for purchase.

A special cat food collection for the foster homes will be taken during the event.

All proceeds benefit cat rescue, cat care, foster and

adoption supported by FosterCat, Inc., which is a 501 c 3, all-volunteer, Pittsburgh-based organization established in 1999 that has successfully rescued, fostered and placed over 3,500 homeless cats in the area.

PARADE

The Mt. Lebanon Halloween parade will be held at 11 a.m. Oct. 31 along Washington Road, starting at the cemetery and ending at Lebanon Avenue.

Spectators should wear costumes and join in the parade after the inflatable pumpkin passes. Following the parade, children can trick or treat at participating businesses and stores along Washington Road.

Volunteers, high school students who will dress in professional mascot costumes, are needed to escort along the parade route.

Nominations are being accepted for the Bethel Park Citizen of the Year.

VENDOR SHOW

The Peters Township High School craft and vendor show will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 7 at 121 Rolling Hills Dr.

More than 90 vendors will offer items for purchase, including art, vintage clothing, skin care, home goods, jewelry, candles, decor and holiday products. In addition, there will be food trucks. Admission and parking are free.

HOLIDAY CRAFTS

The St. Raphael the Archangel holiday craft show will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Saint Simon and Jude gymnasium, located at 1625 Green Tree Rd. in Scott Township.

Admission and parking are free.

In addition to over 65 tables of crafts, there will be a Chinese Auction, bake sale, 50/50 raffle and food available for purchase.

RESCUE BINGO

A charity bingo benefiting Angel Ridge’s Animal Rescue will be held Nov. 14 at the Home Economics Building at the South Park Fairgrounds. Doors open at noon. Bingo begins at 1:30 p.m.

Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door, and covers all regular and special games. For an additional $50, groups of 8 can reserve a table. Payouts are $100 for regular games, $200 for specials, and a $500 Coverall jackpot. The event also features a Chinese Auction, 50/50 raffle, pull tabs, a “Pot of Gold” raffle, as well as food and beverages for sale.

All proceeds benefit Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, a non-profit dedicated to providing care and shelter for animals in need, including those at Bailey’s Cat Haven.

Advance tickets are available at Bailey’s Cat Haven, 2650 Brownsville Road in South Park (daily, noon to 3 p.m.) and Angel Ridge Animal Rescue, 390 Old Hickory Ridge Road in Washington (Saturday and Sunday, noon to 3 p.m.)

BINGO

The Bethel Park Historical Society and the recreation department will host a bingo from 2 to 5 p.m. Oct. 11 at the community center located at 5151 Park Ave. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. There will be a 50/50 raffle, basket auctions and food available for purchase.

Presale tickets for $20 are available for purchase at the community center. Tickets at the door are $25.

BP LIBRARY

The annual YINZER dinner hosted by the Friends of the Bethel Park Library will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 16 at the library. This celebration of everything black ‘n’ gold, with Pittsburgh-themed food, drink, and games will also feature a cookie table.

Tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple and are available for purchase at the library, Evey Hardware or online.

MEDITATION

Rest, Renew & Restore: Relaxing Sound Baths will be offered from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. Oct. 12 through Nov. 16 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, located at 2040 Washington Road. Fee is $72 per class with exact change required.

Class begins with a calming guided meditation, gently transitioning into an immersive, healing soundscape crafted from crystal singing bowls, soothing chimes, rhythmic drums, and other harmonic instruments. Deborah Lee instructs.

SPEAKER SERIES

The Westminster Presbyterian Church’s free speaker series will feature the Life and Legacy of Roberto Clemente from 7 to 8 p.m. Oct. 13 in Fellowship Hall. Gary Euler, a Clemente Museum docent, will explore the life and legacy of Roberto Clemente — from baseball legend to humanitarian. Listeners will discover his resilience in the face of prejudice and his enduring commitment to helping others.

ROTARY BBQ

The 37th annual Bethel Park-Upper St. Clair Rotary Club’s chicken barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 17 at Bethel Park High School. This is a drive-thru-only event.

Tickets are $20 and dinner includes half of a fresh grilled BBQ chicken, baked beans, zesty coleslaw, roll and dessert.

Proceeds benefit dozens of charities, who are awarded funds each spring at the annual Night of Giving.

KEYNOTES

Keynotes is accepting applications for the 2027 Music Scholarship Competition which will be held May 8 at The Fine Arts Theater of Mt. Lebanon High School. Cash awards totaling more than $16,000 will be awarded.

Requirements are: Instrumentalists must be under 26 years of age by June 1, and vocalists must be under the age of 30 on June 1. The student must be a full-time music major at a college, university or music school or a graduating high school senior accepted for admission as a full-time music major.

Contestants must be current legal residents of Pennsylvania for one year, or if out-of-state, attending a school in Pennsylvania, can provide proof of Pennsylvania address, i.e. campus address, university mailings, apartment or utility bills.

MUSIC

The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh will present a holiday concert “Yuletide Noels” under the direction of Cynthia G. Pratt at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Ave. The facility is accessible to all.

The concert will include an hour of holiday entertainment for all ages with a mixture of joyful, sacred, and secular songs.

Admission is free but donations are welcome and will benefit the charitable and entertainment efforts of the Harmony Singers

The South Park Women’s Club’s 32nd annual craft show will be held Oct. 10 at the Broughton Fire Hall and the group is seeking “unique” crafters and vendors for the event, which features a variety of homemade items as well as offers refreshments, a bake sale, auction and raffle baskets.

Applications are being accepted for John McMillan Presbyterian Church’s annual Christmas Affair.

Space is limited for the event scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 at 875 Clifton Road, Bethel Park.

Each year, more than 50 artisans showcase a wide variety of handmade goods and holiday gifts at the event, which also includes a festive Gingerbread House, chance auction and the Kris Kringle Kafé. Admission is free.

Giant Oaks Garden Club’s annual Tinsel luncheon and fundraiser will be held Oct. 30 at the Hilton Garden Inn at Southpointe. Tickets for “Glitter & Glow” are $50 per person and includes a luncheon as well as a full day of vendor shopping, raffle baskets valued at a minimum of $100, door prizes, and a 50/50 drawing.

AARP

The AARP Chapter 3016 meets the second Thursday of the month at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road.
