DIY TIME

A valentine gnome-making session for ages 18 and over will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Jan. 30 at the Peters Township recreation center. Fee is $10 ($5 nonmembers). Call 724-942-5000 for more details.

COIN SHOW

The South Hills Coin Club will hold a coin show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 3 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and Suites Pittsburgh South, located at 164 Fort Couch Road. More than 20 dealers will be featured, buying and selling silver and gold, coins, tokens, medals and currency. Admission and parking are free. Call 724-984-6611 for more details.

PT FIT

The Peters Township recreation center’s Commit To Fit Challenge begins Feb. 1 and continues through Feb. 29. Participants walk along the indoor track and document their miles. The walker with the most miles wins a prize. Six participants minimum are required. Sign-up deadline is Jan. 30. Call 724-942-5000 to register.

KIDS REC

The Peters Township recreation center will host a Kids Rec At Night program from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Feb. 6 for ages 7 to 11. Participants should wear gym shoes and bring a water bottle as they play games, have fun and keep moving. Fee is $5 ($8 nonmembers). Sign up by Feb. 2 by calling 724-942-5000.

COIN CLUB

The South Hills Coin Club willmeet at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Bethel Park municipal building located at 5100 West Library Ave. All members and the general public can attend. The program will discuss the United States Mint-produced Saudi Gold coins. A 50/50 will be held and children’s prizes will be awarded. Applications are being accepted for membership. TAX HELP

Free tax Assistance will be offered from Feb. 5 to April 4 at The Bible Chapel, located at 300 Gallery Drive in McMurray. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday. The office is closed April 1. No appointments. Filers are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Filers should provide last year’s tax return, identification, Social Security numbers, birth dates, all W-2 forms and 1099 tax documents (including Social Security 1099), health care statements and property tax receipts. DORMONT AARP

The Dormont AARP meets at noon the second Thursday of every month at Wallace Memorial Presbyterian Church, located at 1146 Greentree Road. The group offers speakers, entertainment, an annual picnic and Christmas party as part of its activities. To join or for more information call 412-563-3961.

SH WOMEN

FISH FRY

A fish fry will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14, and every Friday during Lent at the American Legion Post 760, located at 2409 Bethel Church Road. Take-out only. The Southwestern Pennsylvania Registered Nurses Club will meet at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 20 at Salvatore’s, located at 5001 Curry Road. Peters Township is offering the following at the community recreation center:

Teen Valentine Social from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 13 for ages 13-17. There will be a hot cocoa bar, music, games and card-making station to create a note for that special someone. Fee is $5 ($8 nonmembers). Registration deadline is Feb. 10.

Senior luncheon from noon to 2 p.m. Feb. 14. John Sarkis of the Skyliners will be featured. Seniors should bring a covered dish or dessert to share. Registration is required. RSVP by Feb. 12.

CRAFTERS WANTED

LEBO RENTAL

Online reservations are being accepted at www.mtlebanon.org until March 15 for park pavilions in Mt. Lebanon, when non-residents can start signing up.

Pavilions are available to rent daily in Main Park, Bird Park and Williamsburg Park from April 7 to Oct. 31. Reservations are done on a first-come, first-served basis.

AARP

AARP chapter 3016 meets the second Thursday of the month year-round at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1148 Greentree Road. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. with light refreshments served. Anyone over 55 can attend.

WEIGHT LOSS

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) chapter 475, Carnegie, meets every Thursday at Chartiers Lifespan, 300 Lincoln Ave. in Carnegie. Weigh-in is at 2 p.m. Class follows from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Contests, programs and exercises are offered at a reasonable price. Call 412-818-7489 for more details.
