CONCERTS

The Dean Streator Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Bethel Park Community Foundation, kicks off with a performance by the Community Band South at 2:30 p.m. July 12 in the air-conditioned auditorium of the Bethel Park Community Center.

Other dates and groups in the 2026 summer session include:

July 19 — New Vintage Big Band.

Aug. 2 — Allegheny Brass Band

Aug. 9 — Pittsburgh Banjo Club

Aug. 16 — Keystone Chorus featuring barbershop harmonies and singalongs.

The concerts are free, but contributions to the BP Community Foundation are welcome. The Foundation funds scholarships and other projects which benefit residents of Bethel Park in the areas of arts and culture, health and recreation, education and safety.

Concerts begin at 2:30 PM. Doors open at 1:30 PM. Parking is limited.

GARDENING

The Giant Oaks Garden Club will meet July 2 at St. David’s Episcopal Church located at 905 E. McMurray Road. Lunch and meeting start at 11:15 a.m. A program on summer floral design will start at 1 p.m. Steve Neubauer of Neubauer’s Flowers & Market is the featured speaker. Guests can attend for a $6 fee. COMEDY

The South Park Theatre is presenting Lucky Stiff through July 5.

The comedy features Harry, an unassuming shoe salesman, forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on a vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in passing his uncle off as alive, he stands to inherit $6 million. If not, the money goes to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday on June 25, 26 and 27 as well as July 2 and 3. The Sunday matinee on June 28 starts at 2 p.m.

MOVIE NIGHT

Bethel Park will hold two free movie nights this summer at Splash Park located at 2600 South Park Road. “National Treasure” will be featured on July 10 while” Dora and The Lost City of Gold” will be shown on Aug. 14. Movies begin at dusk. In case of inclement weather, the films will be shown at the community center.

COIN CLUB

The South Hills Coin Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. July 14 at the Bethel Park Municipal Building located at 5100 West Library Ave. All members and the general public can attend the program, which celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday with a summer pizza party. A 50/50 will also be held and children’s prizes awarded. Applications are now being accepted for membership. Call 724-984-6611 for more information.

MUSIC

Recycled Vinyl will be the featured musical act on July 16 on the turf field at Millennium Park. The classic rock and R&B act is part of the Bethel Park Summer Concert series. The country and Americana group Joe Wodarek & 51 South will perform on Aug. 20. Music starts at both events at 6 p.m. Food trucks will be on site. Spectators should bring a chair or blanket.

In between those dates, the Bethel Park Art & Music Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 25 at the Park Avenue Streetscape, which runs from the Schoolhouse Arts & History Center on South Park Road to the community center located at 5151 Park Ave.

Over 100 artists will be featured along with music and food vendors. The event will be held rain or shine.

BP MARKET

The Bethel Park Farmers Market is gearing up for a big summer with special events throughout July and August. In its 20th season, the market is held from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays on Corrigan Drive in South Park.

Theme dates are as follows:

July 14, Cow Appreciation Day. A nod to farm life, there will be a cow-themed scavenger hunt for children.

July 21, Christmas in July. In addition to festive mid-summer fun, there will be seasonal surprises.

July 28, Parks & Rec. Celebrating the community spaces and traditions of Bethel Park.

Aug. 4, National Farmers Market Week. Celebrate and meet the growers and artisans that make the market possible.

Aug. 11, Anniversary Park. The market will celebrate its 20th birthday.

PET WALK

The Pet Memorial Mile will take place at 8:30 a.m. July 18 at DiVirgilio Sports Complex in Rostraver Township. The walk is designed to remember those pets who are no longer with us. This is a rain or shine event. Registration begins at 7:30. There will be refreshments, baskets and raffles on site.

Members of Michael’s Ovation will be on site with the Michael Shaffer Pet Memorial Bridge. Participants of this Memorial Walk will be able to place their beloved pet’s collar (collars will be supplied if needed) on this bridge for a monetary donation.

All monies collected from the memorial bridge will be used to support the Michael Shaffer Memorial Pet Food Fund for the 4 Partnered Shelters and Rescues of Mon Valley Paws.

BOOK SALE

The Bethel Park Lions Club will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. July 31 at Lions Park located at 5757 Irishtown Road. From 5 to 6 p.m. patrons can fill a bag for $5.

FLEA MARKET

Summer Flea Market

St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church will hold a summer flea market from 8 a.m. to noon Aug. 1 at 2005 Mohawk Road in Upper St. Clair. A leftover sale runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 2.

RECYCLE

A household hazardous waste recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 1 in the Bethel Park High School stadium parking lot.

The following is a list of acceptable items and rates that will be collected by Noble Environmental:

Latex and oil-based paints/stains ($0.70/lb)

All other household hazardous waste ($1.05/lb)

Freon containing devices ($0.30/lb)

All types of bulbs and batteries ($0.80/lb)

All sizes of propane tanks ($6.50/lb)

No containers greater than 5 gallons will be accepted.

CATS

Bailey’s Cat Haven will host an open house from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1 at its South Park location on 2650 Brownsville Road.

The event features tours of the shelter, cat-related items for sale and a basket raffle. Pinnacle Tattoo (cash only) will be on site and is donating a portion of its proceeds to Bailey’s Cat Haven, which is an all-volunteer organization dedicated to cat care and socialization.

Peters Township concerts are again being held at the Peterswood Park amphitheater this summer. Concerts start at 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted on Wednesdays and food trucks will be on site.

The line-up also includes: Velveeta on July 1; Pittsburgh Dueling Piano Allstars on July 8; Almost Taylor, Taylor Swift Tribute on July 15; Day One on July 22; Radio Tokyo on July 29; Dancing Queen on Aug. 5; The Delaneys on Aug. 12; Street Level (6 p.m.) on Aug. 19; and Desperado: Eagles Tribute Band (6 p.m.) on Aug. 26.

Special events include: Zootopia on July 17; Lilo and Stitch on Aug. 7; Wild World of Animals (6:30 p.m.) on Sept. 2, and Hocus Pocus on Oct. 9.

FLEA MARKET

The Church of the Atonement will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 18 on the lawn located at 618 Washington Ave. in Carnegie.

Vendors are needed to sell crafts and other flea market items.

PT REC

Among the following courses and classes being offered include:

Hoops Stars Basketball on Tuesdays beginning July 7. Ages 2 to 3 meet at 5 p.m. Ages 4 to 5 meet at 5:30 p.m. Ages 6 to 8 meet at 6:30 p.m. Participants learn the basics of dribbling, passing, shooting, positioning, defense and rebounding and then apply the learned skills in game situations.

Card making for adults paired with a youth, aged 8 and over is offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 13. Card-making for adults, ages 18 and older, will be held Aug. 24. Fee is $35 ($53 for nonmembers).

Volleyball camps for intermediates from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. and from Aug. 10-13 and 3 to 4:15 p.m. Aug. 17-20. An advanced camp runs from 4:15 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 17-20. Ages 9 to 16 are eligible. Fee is $75 ($112 nonmembers).

Guitar lessons for ages 6 to 12 from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Mondays and for ages 18 and over from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. beginning July 6 at the Peterswood Park outdoor amphitheater. Fee is $115 ($173 nonmembers).

Pickleball instruction is offered for six weeks for ages 18 and over beginning July 6 and 7. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday sessions are offered from 9 to 10 a.m. for the B1 course that focuses on strokes, rules and court fundamentals and teaches the basics of the game. The B2 course, which reinforces skills through cooperative drills and repetitions as well as focuses on situational play and practice, runs from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays and Tuesdays. Fee is $120 ($180 nonmembers).

REUNION

The South Park High School’s Class of ’76 will hold its 50th reunion Aug. 21 at the Cottage, located at the South Park Fairgrounds, near the clock building. The picnic begins at noon. Tickets are $30 per person. Guests can attend. The reunion committee will provide food and cake. Classmates and guests should bring their own beverages, snacks and sides. HEALTHY EATING

The South Hills chapter of Plant-Based Pittsburgh meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. every third Monday at the Sunnyhill Unitarian Universalist Church on Washington Road in Mt. Lebanon.

Plant-Based Pittsburgh is a non-profit organization that promotes healthy nutrition and living through a whole foods plant-based lifestyle.

The group will host a potluck on July 15 and host a special guest speaker on July 20.

CRAFTS

The South Park Women’s Club’s 32nd annual craft show will be held Oct. 10 at the Broughton Fire Hall and the group is seeking “unique” crafters and vendors for the event, which features a variety of homemade items as well as offers refreshments, a bake sale, auction and raffle baskets.

Applications are being accepted for John McMillan Presbyterian Church’s annual Christmas Affair.

Space is limited for the event scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 7 at 875 Clifton Road, Bethel Park.

Each year, more than 50 artisans showcase a wide variety of handmade goods and holiday gifts at the event, which also includes a festive Gingerbread House, chance auction and the Kris Kringle Kafé. Admission is free.

AUP GROUP

The Association of University People (AUP) welcomes singles 50 and older who are four-year college graduates, to join them for various activities and to meet new friends.

CAMP

Penn Woods Classical Academy will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence through an immersive four-day summer camp experience taking place from 9 a.m. to noon July 13-16.

Designed to bring history to life, the camp will immerse first- through seventh-grade students in the people, events, and daily life of the American Revolutionary War through hands-on activities, crafts, games, and historical experiences. Each day of camp will feature a Revolutionary-era theme such as: becoming a signer of the Declaration of Independence Day where students will create their own signature, participate in ink and quill writing, complete a scavenger hunt, and take part in a mock Continental Congress debate; learn military drills, make hardtack and stew, and more.

Cost is $65.

PONY CAMP

Horses Unlimited Stables will offer a pony camp, designed specifically for beginner riders ages 5 to 10, at its private barn in South Park. While the first camp is full, a second camp has been added for Aug. 10-13. Time is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The camp is limited to 12 children. Campers learn to care for, groom, tack up, and ride ponies.

The AARP Chapter 3016 meets the second Thursday of the month at Unity Presbyterian Church, 1146 Greentree Road.
