The state Department of Transportation will be replacing the wing wall on the bridge that crosses Library Road at Clifton Road the weekend of April 20. Library Road will be closed and detours will be posted.
• The municipality, in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will once again sponsor Spring Clean Up Day on April 20. Trash bags, safety vests and gloves will be provided, as well as patches for young participants. • The Bethel Park Republican Dinner will be held from 5:30-9 p.m. April 27 in the Bethel Park Community Center. The cost is $40 per person and $20 for students.
The speaker will be Paul Kengor, executive director, professor and author from Grove City College. The topic will be “What is a Reagan Conservative?”

The annual Walk Through the Wetlands, sponsored by the Chartiers Creek Watershed Association, will be held 10 a.m.-noon April 20. The walk will be led by Dr. Jason Kilgore, professor of biology at Washington & Jefferson College, who also has a doctorate in plant physiology and ecology. Those wanting to participate are asked to sign up in advance. There is no charge.

JVS Environmental is offering an electronic items disposal service to the residents and businesses of Mt. Lebanon. Most electronic devices will be recycled free of charge at the public works yard, 1250 Lindendale Drive off Cedar Boulevard. Items will be accepted from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. April 20. • St. Clair Hospital and The Green Team are conducting an Adopt-A-Highway cleanup of trash and recyclables along the sidewalks of Bower Hill and Vanadium roads from 8 a.m.-noon on April 27. Adults and high school-aged students from the community are welcome to attend. Each participant will be issued a reflective vest and gloves, as well as drinks and a light breakfast. Student volunteers will be issued Community Service hours for their participation.

Clean-up Day and Environmental Quality Board Recycling Day is from 9 a.m.-noon April 20. The annual roadside clean-up will begin at 9 a.m. at the Community Recreation Center. To sign up or to request a location in advance, call public works at 724-941-6161. The recycling event will begin at 9 a.m. at the public works facility. Recycle scrap metal, automobile batteries, tires and electronics.
• A College Planning Night with a goal to provide a wide variety of information and perspectives regarding college admissions and future planning will be held at 6:45 p.m. April 24 in the Peters Township High School cafeteria. The event is being sponsored by the Peters Township High School Counseling Department.
• Peters Township High School’s Interact Club will hold its second annual Autism Awareness Walk & Sale from noon-4 p.m. April 27 at the high school. There will be a Chinese auction, bake sale and music. The students have created fabric-covered pots, fleece scarves and t-shirts to raise funds to benefit the PTSD autism programs and Autism Speaks. Students will also be taking orders and selling other Autism Awareness items outside the high school cafeteria during lunch periods for the entire month of April. In the event of rain, the walk and sale will be moved inside to the gym.
The Allegheny County Home Rule Charter requires realignment of the 13 council districts every 10 years to adjust to the population changes resulting from the most current census date. South Fayette was moved from District 5 to District 4. The new representative on county council for the township is Michael J. Finnerty.
The Arts and Chocolate Spectacular will be held 11 a.m.-4 p.m. April 20 in the Community and Recreation Center in Boyce Mayview Park, 1551 Mayview Road. Admission is free and open to all ages. Participants will be able to taste and purchase a variety of chocolate treats from flavored fudge to chocolate covered apples to cupcakes.
A children’s art gallery will showcase art pieces from a variety of schools in the South Hills. There will be musical performances by local amateur groups. Children can make lollipop flowers, paint with chocolate and paint a river rock to add to the center’s rock garden.

• The zoning hearing board of Upper St. Clair will hold a public hearing at its regular meeting at 8 p.m. April 24 in the community room of the township’s Community and Recreation Center. The reason for the public hearing is an application filed by Moira Cain-Mannix for a substantive challenge to the validity of township ordinance No. 2056 that was adopted Oct. 3, 2011, which amended the township zoning ordinance.
The application is available for review from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday at the township offices, 1820 McLaughlin Run Road.
The League of Women Voters of Washington County announces that any citizen wanting to vote in the May 21 Pennsylvania Municipal Primary Election must be registered by April 22.
