The South Hills Jewish Community Center, located on Kane Boulevard in Scott Township, will offer pickleball this fall.
Part tennis and part badminton, the sport is a paddle game played using a large paddle to hit a special perforated, slow-moving ball over a tennis-type net on a badminton-sized court.
Clinics will be held from noon-2 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month beginning Sept. 10. Fee is $2 for non-members. Seniors play 2-4 p.m. Sundays beginning Sept. 15. Fee is $2 for members, $4 for others. Children, ages 10-16, play noon-2 p.m. Sundays starting Sept. 15. Fee is $3 per member. Families play at the same time beginning Sept. 29. Fee is $5 per member family.

Hatha Yoga will be offered from 3-4 p.m. Thursdays beginning Aug. 15 in the Collier Township Municipal Building’s community room. Fee is $40 for residents; $45 for all others.

A Tai Chi exercise class will begin Aug. 15 in the Collier Township Community Room. The intermediated class starts at 10 a.m. while the beginner class is at 11 a.m. Fee is $54 ($60 non-residents).

The third annual St. Patrick’s Kids Triathlon will be held at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Town Park Pool in Canonsburg. Fee is $20 per person ($25 on race day). Reduced rates are available for multiple family participants. .
There will be four age groups: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-17 and 18-21. Depending upon their division, competitors will swim from one to six lengths of the 35-yard pool, cycle between .5 and 1.5 miles, as well as run those distances. Bike helmets are required. Competitors also must wear shoes the running segment.
This year, a parent group has been added, as well as relays for all age divisions, including the parents. Fee is $15 per person. Relays consist of three persons, each completing one portion of the three-event race.
Dinner will be served after the race. Non-competitors may purchase dinner tickets for $5.
Awards will be distributed to the top three finishers in each category. The event will be held regardless of weather. Thunder and lighting, however, would delay the event.
Fees are non-refundable and proceeds benefit the St. Patrick Elementary School’s athletic association. The school offers cross country, basketball, bowling, soccer and cheerleading to students in grades K-8.

Learn-to-swim group lessons, from beginners through pre-competitive, will be offered by the Upper St. Clair Swim Club at the high school pool.

Registration for the Pacer Track Club’s cross country season will be held Sept. 3 prior to the team’s first practice at the Gilfillan Trail, located off Route 19 between South Hills Village Mall and Upper St. Clair High School.
Fee is $35 plus USATF membership dues of $20.
Practices are held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 p.m.
Ages 8-13 are eligible. No experience required.
Races are 3,000 meters or less than two miles. Meets are held Saturday and Sunday mornings. The Three Rivers Association Championships are set for November.
