Rumfish Grille/Beach in Bridgeville will host a concert with the band Midlife Crisis on Sept. 1 to benefit the Children’s Hospital Heart Foundation in the name of Ella Rose, a 5-year-old who has been afflicted with a heart defect and has had numerous operations.

The concert and pig roast will begin at 6 p.m.

A $5 cover charge will be asked at the door with all proceeds donated to the Ella Rose Foundation, as will all monies from the pig roast.

4-H County Council will be collecting items for Operation Christmas Child and Operation Support Our Troops through Sept. 2 at the Penn State University Extension office in Washington. Items needed for Operation Support Our Troops include: individual cold drink mix packets, sunscreen, vitamins, insect repellent and anti-itch cream. For Operation Christmas Child, items accepted include: dolls, stuffed animals, small cars, school supplies, hygiene items and clothing.

A spaghetti dinner to benefit Sydney Hawk of Bridgeville will be held from 1-5 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Hall.

Sydney, daughter of Joe and Karin Hawk and little sister to Addison Marie, is a first-grader at Chartiers Valley Primary School and was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukemia on March 5. Since then, she has experienced many ups and downs and suffered some serious side effects.

The Scott Lang Memorial Golf Classic is held in honor and memory of LaRoche’s late basketball coach, who in 2010, at age 41, tragically passed away on the court during practice. Proceeds from the event enable LaRoche College to maintain and enhance student athletic programs, build infrastructure for the sports programs and purchase needed equipment and supplies.

Bethel Park Lions are sponsoring the annual George Meyer Scholarship Golf Outing Sept. 21 at Lindenwood Golf Club in McMurray. Registration begins at noon with tee off at 1 p.m. There is a scramble format and single golfers will be assigned to teams. Peacock Keller law firm is sponsoring the sixth annual “Off The Shelf … A Celebration of Books” charity event 6-9:30 p.m. Sept. 18, to support libraries in Pennsylvania’s Washington, Greene and Fayette counties. This year’s theme is travel. Each table at the fundraiser will choose a book about travel and decorate their table accordingly, as part of a larger contest. Table decorating will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. on the day of the event, with an impartial panel of judges evaluating each table thereafter. Cocktail hour will begin at 6, providing attendees an opportunity to inspect Chinese auction items. Participants will also be able to support their favorite tables by donating to the “People’s Choice Award.” A live auction will also be held during the event. Dinner will follow at 7, with Bellows taking the podium at 8.

More than 5,000 walkers representing local families, corporations and schools are expected to participate in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Western PA Chapter’s Walk to Cure Diabetes events this fall. This year’s fundraising goal for JDRF and the walkers is to raise $1.1 million for research into the treatment, prevention and ultimately a cure for type 1 diabetes (T1D).

The walk on Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park takes place Sept. 21 and another walk at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg campus is slated for Sept. 28. For both sites, registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the two-mile walk begins at 10.

The Dicey Chicks, a Pittsburgh-based Bunco group, will host its fourth biennial Roll for a Reason Bunco fundraiser on Oct. 19 in the Fellowship Hall of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair. Proceeds benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation and The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. Roll for a Reason consists of three games of Bunco, separated by 20-minute intermissions for players to enjoy the dessert bar and participate in the basket raffle. For participants who have never played Bunco, the rules will be reviewed. Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Play begins at 1:30 p.m. Registration is $20 per person before Oct. 5, and $30 per person after Oct. 5.
