PT consolidation to save school district money
The Peters Township School Board consolidated six central office leadership positions into five positions during a meeting Aug. 19. The move will save the district $43,000 in salaries and benefits.
The move saw the creation of a new position, Assistant to the Superintendent for Performance Management, and the hiring of Dr. Jennifer Murphy at a salary of $113,000, and created the position of Director of Personnel. Patricia Kelly, currently the Director of Special Education, was hired to fill the position of Director of Personnel at a salary of $99,600, effective Sept. 1.
Patricia Kardambikis, the current Assistant to the Superintendent for Curriculum Instruction and Assessment, was appointed to Assistant Superintendent with an annual salary of $118,000, effective Sept. 1.
In addition, Vincent Belczyk, business manager, was assigned additional human resources duties at a salary of $96,000, effective Sept. 1.
“Overall, the changes will result in a more than $43,000 reduction in salary and benefits while providing a structure better suited to meet the needs of a high-achieving district,” said Shelly Belcher, district spokeswoman.
In addition to her current duties, Kardambikis will address district policies, comprehensive planning, homeschooling and homebound instruction.
The position of Director of Instructional Technology with a salary of
$75,000, remains open.
In other action, the board:
• Approved a one-year contract with the bus drivers effective July 1.
• Approved a long list of day-to-day substitutes.
• The first day of classes for students is Aug. 26.
