Sollon medalist at TCADA golf championships

Jake Sollon earned medalist honors during the Tri-Country Athletic Director’s Association’s Golf Championships played in Hickory. The Peters Township sophomore carded a 71 off the white tees on the 6,100-yard course at Village Green.

Sollon’s showing led the Indians to a third-place finish in the team standings. PT posted a 377 score while Canon-McMillan claimed runner-up laurels with a 374 and Trinity won the team title with a 372 score.

Cory Long of South Fayette tied Bill McCracken from Trinity for second-place individual honors. Both fired 72s.

Canon-Mac teammates Kevin Rush and Max Waldron as well as SF’s Tyler Vidak followed with 73 scores.

The Big Macs’ J.D. Oddi contributed a 74.

Other top PT finishers included: Cody Ruffing (75), Jordan Pruce (76), Alec Stopperich (76) and Ryan Pollack (76).

Peters Township captured the Chairman’s Cup held at Cedarbrook Golf Course. From the blue tees on the 6,420-yard gold course, the Indians compiled a 388 score, 10 strokes ahead of second-place North Allegheny. Pine-Richland and Bethel Park followed in third and fourth place.

Seniors Ryan Pollack and Cody Ruffing led the Indians with 76 scores while sophomores Jake Sollon and Connor Schmidt each carded 78s. Alec Stopperich finished with an 80 to complete PT’s score.

John Selep, Nick Konyk, Justin Hyrb, Ben Wallace and Nick Dicenzo were the top performers for the Black Hawks.

Though members of PT’s high school team, Tyler Pollack, Anthony Lioon and Reed Rayburg competed as individuals in the Chairman’s Cup and carded 74, 74 and 78 scores respectively.

PT’s Ben Morgret and Tyler Johnson finished 1-2 with 77 and 78 scores respectively in the junior varsity division. Alex Martin and J.W. Cunningham placed in the top 10, finishing sixth and seventh respectively.

Mia Kness fired a one-under par 71 and grabbed medalist honors during the Chairman’s Cup played on the 4,723-yard red course at the Cedarbrook Golf Course. The Peters Township senior fired a 32 on the front nine and finished with a 38 on the back nine.

Kness led the Lady Indians to a first-place showing in the team standings. Contributing also to the squad’s total score of 340 were sophomore Synclaire Kuhn and freshmen Brooke Hilden and Alyssa Parham.

Bethel Park also participated in the event and finished fourth overall as a team. Jamie Cavrak, Allison Vargo, Haley Browen and Erin Cavrak contributed to the Hawks’ 391 score.
