Ride to raise money for PH disease
As part of Pittsburgh’s BikeFest 2013, cyclists of all levels are invited to bike a 10-mile stretch of the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) from UPMC Sports Medicine on the South Side to the trail’s western terminus in Point State Park and back again.
The ride will take place 6-7:30 p.m. Aug. 22.
Riders are invited to traverse these flat, paved sections of the riverfront trail system along the Monongahela River. Leading the pack and serving as hosts for the free ride will be Team PHenomenal Hope, a group of four women captained by UPMC pulmonologist Patty George, M.D. The team is preparing to complete the 3,000-mile, 2014 Race Across America while raising awareness and donations for pulmonary hypertension (PH) disease.
Registration will take place in the lobby of UPMC Sports Medicine, 3200 S. Water Street, South Side.
