Peters approves Lakeshire’s final plan
Peters Township continues to grow, perhaps not at the rate during the housing boom a few years ago. But, new home construction continues to occur.
During a meeting Aug. 26, council approved the Lakeshire Estates final plan that will create six new lots ranging from 1.7 to 22.2 acres. All of the lots will have direct access to Springdale Road including a lot with a house occupied by Susan and Edward A. Courtney Jr.
Five of the lots, including the Courtney residence, will be developed as single-family homes. The sixth lot will be 22 acres and will not have access to Springdale Road, or any road. In the future, the Hamlet development may provide access from phase five, which would open up possible future development on lot six of the Lakeshire Estates.
An existing pond on the property will be owned and maintained by the home owners association.
Also in new home construction, Brian Homes requested a special permit for a sign to be placed off site of the Meadow Ridge plan off Friar Lane and Valley Brook Road. With the nearly 14-month closure of Valley Brook Road for realignment of the road and ramp closest to Washington Road, developers say perspective buyers are unable to located the plan. There are four spec homes under construction and an additional seven lots available to buyers. Home prices start at $685,900. Council gave its approval with the developer to return to Ed Zuk, planning director, with a location for the sign estimated to be 60 inches by 28 inches.
In other action Aug. 26, council,
• Awarded a bid to Peter J. Caruso and Sons for $21,185 to remove the old fencing at Elm Grove Park and to install new fencing with an added bottom rail. There were 10 bids. In the 2013 budget, the township set aside $32,000.
• Agreed to donate $1,000 to the Venetia Heritage Society. The township provides snow removal and mows the grass at the building. In return, the society donates some of its space to the DARE program. It also houses some of the communication equipment needed by the township.
• Announced the dedication of the Valley Brook Trail Bridge will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 14.
