Marylu McKown of Bethel Park was recently elected to the Board of Directors for Women’s Business Network, Inc. (WBN) and will be serving as the organization’s recording secretary.

A graduate of Robert Morris University, McKown majored in accounting and business management. She then worked in health care accounting, reimbursement and budgeting for 22 years. For the past 15 years, she has been in direct sales, finally finding her home company with SendOutCards.

McKown has been an active member of the South Hills Chapter of WBN since 2010. She also volunteers at Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park as an usher and in the hospitality ministry. She previously ministered to the homeless for two years when she lived in Florida. She was also an MS facilitator with the South Hills National Multiple Sclerosis Society support group for seven years. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her seven grandchildren who all live in the Pittsburgh area.

Janet Ford, a 21-year member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club of Canonsburg (BPW), was recently presented with the District 12 Tribute to Women Award at the BPWPA State Convention. Ford is a past Woman of the Year recipient and has served twice as president of Canonsburg BPW. She has also held several other positions in the club and chaired numerous committees. Ford has also held the position of second vice president for District 12. Ford, who designed, established and maintains Canonsburg BPW’s website also received a state award for the Best Local Organization Web Presence.
