Michael Lucarelli of Bethel Park will appear on the nationally televised “Christmas at Belmont” concert airing on PBS at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Hosted by internationally renowned mezzo-soprano Denyce Graves and taped at Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center, more than 800 student musicians joined the Belmont School of Music faculty and the Nashville Children’s Choir for the taping of “Christmas at Belmont.” The annual production will include traditional carols, classical masterworks, world music and seasonal favorites.

The Hollywood Theater, Dormont, will present the following:

• Kid City New Year’s Dance Party, 2-6 p.m. Jan. 4. Pittsburgh’s new indie dance party for kids, led by DJ KellyMom who spins familiar kid-friendly songs that parents grew up dancing to, from The Cure to No Doubt, also features art projects for kids and parents, rotating local craft vendors and a snack bar with vegetarian and vegan snacks. • “Lawrence of Arabia,” starring Peter O’Toole, Alec Guinness and Anthony Quinn, screens at 7 p.m. Dec. 27 and 2 p.m. Dec. 28 and 29.

• “The Wait,” a new drama/thriller in which two sisters decide to keep their deceased mother in their house after being told that she will come back to life, screens at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and 7 p.m. Jan. 4.

• “Bettie Page Reveals All,” 7 and 9 p.m. Dec. 28 and 7 p.m. Dec. 29. The cult icon recounts the story of her life in this 2013 documentary, from humble beginnings in an impoverished southern family, to high school salutatorian, to scandalous ’50s pin-up model, to her retirement in 1957 at the peak of her modeling career.

• The Films of David Lynch series, which spotlights a different Lynch film monthly through June 2014, continues with “Wild At Heart” (1989), a drama starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as young lovers on the run from the variety of weirdoes. It screens at 7 p.m. Jan. 3, and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 4.

Hollywood’s Previews Series movies include:

• “Pretty Old,” 4 and 7 p.m. Dec. 26. When 30 women – aged 67 to 84 – from across America and around the world descend on Fall River, Mass., to compete in the 30th anniversary Ms. Senior Sweetheart pageant, hilarity and heartbreak ensue in the documentary.

• “Jump,” 7 p.m. Jan. 2. In this new drama from Ireland, Greta, the daughter of a crime boss, is rescued from suicide by a stranger on New Year’s Eve – a night that will change both their lives forever.

The Four Townsmen Show Band will entertain on New Year’s Eve at the South Strabane Vol. Fire Department. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $40 per person. Hog Fathers will provide the catering. For reservations, call 724-678-9652.

Peters Township actor Tom Atkins will perform the leading role of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Arthur J. Rooney Sr. once again in Pittsburgh Public Theater’s production of “The Chief” Jan. 2-5 at The O’Reilly Theater.

Set in Mr. Rooney’s office at Three Rivers Stadium in 1976, this will be the play’s ninth production at The O’Reilly, where it premiered in 2003.

Performances run at 8 p.m. Jan. 2, 3 and 4; at 2 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5; and at 7 p.m. Jan. 5.

Tickets are $48 and $65, and students and those age 26 and younger with a valid I.D. are $15.75.

The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh’s museum of comic and cartoon art, presents the exhibit “Wonder Women: On Page and Off,” Jan. 4-March 30.

The exhibit is an exploration of the role of women as artists and in the workplace of the comics industry, and the way the way women have been portrayed in the art form of comics.

More than 50 pieces of original art, representing a “her-storical” timeline of women artists will be shown, one of the largest such exhibition of women in comics ever presented.

Lenora Nemetz will wrap up 2013 with a showcase of her body of work at the Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall’s annual benefit. “Lenora! Lenora Nemetz Brings Broadway to Carnegie Carnegie Hall” takes place 8 p.m. Dec. 28. Nemetz has performed on Broadway, in touring shows, regional theater and in her beloved Pittsburgh. “Lenora!” will be followed by an elegant reception on all three floors of the historic landmark – in the Reception Hall, the chic basement Studio and at the library’s circulation desk. Tickets are $125 for reserved seats in the orchestra or $75 for open seating in the balcony. Proceeds from the concert benefit the Library & Music Hall and the restoration of the historic facility. Walt Maddox returns to the Crowne Plaza Cabaret Dinner Theatre with his one-man show for a special New Year’s Eve performance, Dec. 31.

“NAT” is Walt’s tribute to music legend Nat King Cole. The show begins at 8 p.m. with dinner at 6:30. Price of the dinner theatre package is $45 (includes both tax and tip).

A deadline of Jan. 1 has been set to participate as an artist in the first Pittsburgh Fringe Festival, which will be held May 2-4 and 9-11.
