Ray Santomo of Venetia has won his third double Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) championship in four years, capturing both the Steel Cities Region overall points championship and the Kryder Racing Series ITB points championship.
Santomo won both of these titles in 2010, 2011 and now again in 2013. This year consistency was the key for the Blue Skies Racing Team, winning 10 of 11 races and finishing in second place in one race. Santomo has accomplished this record in just five years of racing the SCCA circuit at the age of 23.
“The only time Ray doesn’t win is when I miss the setup and he usually makes up for it anyway,” said team owner and father Scott Santomo. “We couldn’t be happier with Ray’s results, drive and talent. He is truly committed to going to the front and staying there at all costs. There seems to be no fear of any situation for Ray.”
Blue Skies will start up a new drag racing team in the spring of 2015 with Ray as the driver.
Peter Elish of Peter Elish Investments Securities, an independent full service stock brokerage firm in Canonsburg, won the election to the FINRA District 9 District Committee.
The FINRA District Committees serve and important role in the self-regulatory process among broker-dealers by, among other things: serve on disciplinary panels in accordance with FINRA rules; alert FINRA to industry trends that could present regulatory concerns; and consulting with FINRA on proposed policies and rule changes.
Committee members must have experience, ability and commitment to fulfill these responsibilities, including: understanding the issues facing the securities industry and possessing the ability to apply knowledge and expertise to these issues to develop solutions; educating firms in their district on the responsibilities of FINRA; attending regularly and participating in a collegial manner in District meetings; and remaining objective and unbiased, regardless of the interest of their firm, in the performance of District Committee matters.
