The Hollywood Theater, Dormont, will present the following:

• Kid City New Year’s Dance Party, 2-6 p.m. Jan. 4. Pittsburgh’s new indie dance party for kids, led by DJ KellyMom, who spins familiar kid-friendly songs that parents grew up dancing to, from The Cure to No Doubt. The event also features art projects for kids and parents, rotating local craft vendors and a snack bar with vegetarian and vegan snacks. Kids are free; parents, $5. • “The Wait,” a new drama/thriller in which two sisters decide to keep their deceased mother in their house after being told that she will come back to life, screens at 9:30 p.m. Jan. 3 and 7 p.m. Jan. 4.

• The Films of David Lynch series, which spotlights a different Lynch film monthly through June 2014, continues with “Wild At Heart” (1989), a drama starring Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern as young lovers on the run from the variety of weirdos. It screens at 7 p.m. Jan. 3, and 9:30 p.m. Jan. 4.

Hollywood’s Previews Series movies include:

• “Jump,” 7 p.m. Jan. 2. In this new drama from Ireland, Greta, the daughter of a crime boss, is rescued from suicide by a stranger on New Year’s Eve – a night that will change both their lives forever.

Peters Township actor Tom Atkins will perform the leading role of Pittsburgh Steelers founder Arthur J. Rooney Sr. once again in Pittsburgh Public Theater’s production of “The Chief” Jan. 2-5 at The O’Reilly Theater.

Set in Mr. Rooney’s office at Three Rivers Stadium in 1976, this will be the play’s ninth production at The O’Reilly, where it premiered in 2003.

Performances run at 8 p.m. Jan. 2, 3 and 4; at 2 p.m. Jan. 4 and 5; and at 7 p.m. Jan. 5.

Tickets are $48 and $65, and students and those age 26 and younger with a valid I.D. are $15.75.

The ToonSeum, Pittsburgh’s museum of comic and cartoon art, presents the exhibit “Wonder Women: On Page and Off,” Jan. 4-March 30.

The exhibit is an exploration of the role of women as artists and in the workplace of the comics industry, and the way the way women have been portrayed in the art form of comics.

More than 50 pieces of original art, representing a “her-storical” timeline of women artists will be shown, one of the largest such exhibition of women in comics ever presented.
