Local comedian and author speaks at BP Library
Stand-up comic, Observer-Reporter columnist and author Mike Buzzelli will enlighten the audience at the Bethel Park Public Library 7 p.m. Jan. 23. During “Delving into the Joke Mine with Comedian and Author Mike Buzzelli,” he will share tips on how to write comedy and humor using joke-mining – a technique that he has mastered.
His latest book, “Below Average Genius,” is a compilation of columns from the Observer, as well as from Patch.com and a number of other sources. Buzzelli finds humor in every day life, from encountering beached sharks to watching a movie at a friend’s house to the titular subject, being “Wheel of Fortune” smart but not “Jeopardy” smart. He even takes on the topic as to when, where, and how it is appropriate for men to go shirtless. It’s a quick, fun, lighthearted and of course, hilarious read.
Buzzelli has performed on Improv stages as well as The Comedy Store in Los Angeles – he lived there before moving back to his hometown of Pittsburgh, and had a stint as a film and theatre critic for EyeSpyLA.com, a website dedicated to events in and around the City of Angels.
