Police Pals will play the Pittsburgh Steelers Basketball team at 8 p.m. March 8 in the Bethel Park High School gymnasium.

Tickets are $7 and will go on sale Feb. 1. Tickets at the door will be $9.

Advanced tickets may be purchased at Evey Hardware and Eat ‘N Park, both on Route 88, during regular business hours. Tickets may also be purchased at the Bethel Park Police Records Room from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. Pre-game activities will include a game between the police department and the Bethel Park Fire Department starting at 6:15 p.m. A concession area will be open starting at 5:30 p.m. There will be an opportunity to get autographs during halftime.

Event proceeds benefit the Police Pals Programs and the Sgt. Charles Bonczek/Bethel Park Police Association scholarships.

The borough’s Parks and Recreation group will hold the annual Night at the Races, from 6-10 p.m. Feb. 23 in St. Patrick’s cafeteria. Admission is $10 and includes dinner, soft drinks, coffee and beer. Horses are available for $10. Make reservations by calling 724-746-7333 or email startare1@verizon.net.

Gardening and Agricultural Fair from 1-3 p.m. Feb. 23 in the municipal building. The event is free.

Free throw championship for boys and girls ages 10-14 will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 27 in the Green Tree Borough Municipal Gym. Prizes will be awarded in each age group. Proof of age is required at registration. Call Bill O’Connor at 412-716-5577 with questions.

Mt. Lebanon Commissioners are seeking resumes or letters of interest from residents interested in serving on the municipality’s newly-formed Sports Advisory Board.

There are two at-large positions available. The board will be established this spring, and the board term is for three years.

The purpose of the board is to advise the commissioners on how to improve sports programming and facilities available in Mt. Lebanon. Residents interested in this volunteer board position should submit a resume or letter of interest explaining his or her background and a volunteer board application form available at www.mtlebanon.org to Marcia Taylor, Assistant Manager, 710 Washington Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15228 or mtaylor@mtlebanon.org by Feb. 1.

• Challenges that face parents of children in this technologically advanced age are many. The emergence of social media such as Facebook. Twitter, Instagram and You Tube have allowed people to communicate with more speed than ever.

At 7 p.m. Feb. 7, in the McMurray Elementary School multi-purpose room, members of the Peters Township High School Student Leadership Team will present the potential dangers that could happen to children by communicating via social networks. They will also provide small group training on district iPads.

Southpointe’s 19th Official Trade Show hosted by Southpointe and Marcellus Shale Chamber will be an all-day event Feb. 28 with more than 200 exhibitors.

Fee is $400 for a skirted table with two chairs. Open business-to-business from 9 a.m. until noon, and open to executives and public from noon to 5 p.m.

United Way of Washington County Live United is sponsoring a Dine and Donate night Feb. 7 at the Union Grill, 13 E. Wheeling St., Washington.

The event will be held all day and into the night. Ten percent of all the restaurant’s proceeds will benefit United Way of Washington County’s Community Impact Fund for local charities.
