In total, 13 proposals were submitted.

The winners are:

• Deolores Miller, Bower Hill Special Education. She will receive an iPad for her autistic support classroom to assist students with significant communication and language delays.

• Marie Piatt, Bower Hill kindergarten teachers. The Bower Hill kindergarten team will receive classroom aids to assist in teaching effective listening skills to the youngest learners. This will address not only phonemic and phonetic skills, but will teach self-regulation and listening skills.

• Nancy Hobbs and Kristen Sacco, Bower Hill third grade. The third grade team will receive three iPads to enhance the PIE reading program and students will be able to select, write, share and extend books through technology.

• Katherine Stouden, middle school librarian. The Peters Township Middle School Library will receive 12 NOOK eReaders and book selections to support the curriculum at the middle school and their Reading Counts Initiative.

• Denise Hitchens, high school English teacher. She will receive 15 Samsung Chromebooks to facilitate a blended classroom environment with the necessary tools for classroom collaboration, online exploration and to integrate elements of a flipped classroom.

• Lindsey Myers and Beth Wilmus, high school librarian and world language teacher. This teaching team will receive five iPads to help Spanish IV students research and create fairy tales to increase fluency and their knowledge of the Spanish culture. The tales will also be shared with elementary students to promote language learning and multicultural education.

In the past 18 months, the foundation has provided more than $16,500 in funds to support education at all levels in the Peters Township School District.
