Critical letter was ignorant
I read with great dismay the letter from the librarian criticizing the women at the front desk of Peters Township Library. Could this former librarian be going to the same library as me, where I have always been greeted courteously and served in a timely manner by these same women, sometimes in spite of the chaos caused by children running around, as well as the disruption caused by updating to a new computer system?
I frequent Peters Township Library several times a week and, while I will admit the ladies do not run around the counter and give me a hug, they have always been pleasant, helpful and courteous. To label them as ignorant is grossly unfair. Several times they have commented very intelligently and shared insight on the books I was borrowing.
The employees have demonstrated great patience and professionalism as the library goes through a very difficult computer system change. I hope that these women will not be discouraged by the lack of tolerance demonstrated by this one patron. Such harsh criticism – now that’s ignorance.
