Hannah Rebecca Sams and Jonathan Michael McGovern were united in marriage at 5 p.m. May 26 at Shady Elms Farm, Hickory, by Gary Sams, officiant.

Hannah is the daughter of James I. and Margaret Sams of Venetia. She is the granddaughter of Marguerite and the late James Griffith of Wooster, Ohio, and the late James and Rose Sams.

Jonathan’s parents are Susan Woodward of Lancaster and John T. McGovern of Tampa, Fla. He is the grandson of Charles and Joan Cousar of Lancaster and Marilyn Burgy of Bradenton, Fla.

Serving as maid of honor was Jeanna Kamphaus of McMurray, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Melissa Kiefer of Pittsburgh, friend of the bride; Ashley Sams and Caylee Sams, cousins of the bride; and Cassidy McGovern, niece of the groom. Flower girls were Miriam Acker, friend of the couple, and Elle McGovern, niece of the groom.

Ryan T. McGovern of Oklahoma City, Okla., brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jesse McCall, Monica Kottapolly and Yaniv Aronson, friends of the groom; and James A. Sams, brother of the bride.

The couple’s dog, Sam, served as ring bearer.

The bride is a 2006 graduate of Peters Township High School. She received a degree in viola performance from Penn State University, and a graduate degree in arts management and nonprofit business administration from Carnegie Mellon University.

The groom is a 2001 graduate of Conestoga Valley High School, and earned degrees from Penn State University in psychology and biology. He is currently a fourth-year student at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

After a honeymoon to St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands, the couple makes their home in Squirrel Hill.
