Marelli should have directed complaint to library, not newspaper
I have never written a letter to the editor before, but after reading the one Kameron Marelli wrote concerning the Peters Township Library, I felt I had to. I live in Scott Township and frequent the library on a weekly basis. My children and I enjoy the materials available to us, and even the “ignorant women at the front desk.” Considering Ms. Marelli writes about a new “stressful” system that is being introduced to the library and how it is finally “joining the 21st century” leads me to believe she has a slight issue with the library in general. If she is a librarian, and that is a big if, she should understand the trials and tribulations of dealing with the public. One bad experience can make it difficult to enjoy your minimum wage paying job. The new system was stressful because of the lack of organization and training by those higher up who do not have to deal with the fallout, i.e., the public, when things don’t go smoothly. To call every single hardworking, underpaid woman who works at the front desk “ignorant” or “cruel” comes close to slander in my eyes. If you have a problem with a certain person in a public job, you go to their boss and discuss it face to face. There is no need to write a broad letter to a public newspaper condemning every single front desk employee. It’s the mature thing to do.
