Holiday Retirement in Bethel Park invites everyone, especially seniors, to celebrate fathers during the month of June. There will be a number of events, activities and seminars to honor fathers. Each event is free and open to the public at the facility at 2960 Bethel Church Road.

The first event will be held at 11 a.m. June 7 with Let’s Talk Seniors – Nutrition and Hydration. From 2:30-5:30 p.m. June 8 will be game night, and a classic car show will be held from noon-3 p.m. June 9.

Bridgeville, in conjunction with Goodwill of Southwestern PA, will hold a Community Electronics Collection Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. June 8 at the Bridgeville Volunteer Fire Department, located at 370 Commercial Street.

Unwanted computers, monitors, printers, fax machines, cellphones, digital cameras, chargers, adapters, microwaves, etc. will be collected. To remove data, free services are available online that will completely erase hard drives. For more information, visit www.goodwillswpa.org.

The Canon-McMillan School District is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to all children without charge. Acceptance and participation requirements for the program and all activities are the same for all regardless of race, color, national origin, gender, age or disability, and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.

Meals will be provided at South Central Elementary School, 230 South Central Ave., from noon-1 p.m. Monday-Friday, June 17-July 26. A copy of the menu is available on the district website at cmsd.k12.pa.us.

Clean-up days will be held June 6, 10 and 13, when larger items will be collected. Appliances that do not have freon, televisions and furniture are eligible for pickup.

Gasoline and motor oil must be drained from lawn mowers. Building materials will be collected with the exception of concrete, blocks and bricks. Place the items at the curb on the regular pick up day.

State laws prohibits pick up of paint, oil, petroleum products, batteries, appliances with freon, chemicals, car and engine parts, and hazardous and infectious waste. Tires will not be accepted.

The next Parks and Recreation meeting will be held at 5 p.m. June 13.

After a hiatus last year, the giant July 4 fireworks display returns to the park at 9:30 p.m. There will be seating in the high school stadium.

The sixth annual Tennis Fun Day will be held from 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. June 15 at the township tennis courts. There will be free clinics, food, musical entertainment and prizes. The event is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation department, the Tennis Association and the Peters Township High School tennis teams.
