Many in Cecil still lacking basic utilities

2 min read

I wanted to respond to Mr. Simmons letter in regards to the Cecil Twp. supervisor election. I am a resident of Lawrence who has lived most of his life in Cecil Twp. So, I guess I am one of those people that Mr. Simmons was referring to. What Mr. Simmons may not be aware of is that many lifetime residents feel that they have been left out of the revitalization of our wonderful township. We have watched new sub divisions being built with utilities that you may be surprised many in our township to this date don’t have. The utility that is most needed is sewage. Many in Lawrence, Muse, Hendersonville and Cecil, in this modern era, still don’t have this basic service. Another area of concern is that a large portion of folks outside these new subdivisions live near under the poverty level. So, unfortunately, I think many lifelong residents feel left behind by the new population of middle to upper class folks who now call Cecil Township home. I do not condone the awful incidents that Mr. Simmons describes, and I do recognize the need for Cecil Township to expand and welcome new residents. I just hope that we don’t forget those who have lived here all or most of our lives.
