Across the South Hills – June 12
Betty Sutton, the last of the six founding members of the Bridgeville Public Library, died Jan 10. In recognition of her commitment to the library, her children, Joe, Jennifer and Jane, requested that donations be made to the library in her memory. With the donations, the library was able to modify the front doors of the library to be handicap accessible.
This is an important improvement to the library as the building is surrounded by a nursing home and two senior apartment buildings. Many of the residents of the buildings were unable to use the library because of the lack of accessibility.

Because students at many schools in Pennsylvania and across the country can’t afford to buy graduation gowns, Upper St. Clair high school students started a graduation gown recycling program in 2011 called Hand Me Gowns, and are asking for your help again this year.
The public is asked to bring any used graduation gowns and caps to the high school office by June 30. Gown collection bins will be available on the field after the graduation ceremony on June 13. Caps and gowns from previous years would also be appreciated.
In the past two years, more than 300 gowns were collected and delivered to other schools in Pennsylvania. The program was started by Matt Mendelson and Kyle Newlands and is now being continued under the direction of Keely Carson, Madison Shogry and Gabby Ridge.
