Librarians need to be kind to patrons
As a librarian myself, I am appalled to have to write a negative letter about a library. I rarely enjoy visits to the Peters Township Public Library anymore. After moving to the area three years ago, I was delighted to be a part of the award-winning library community. I understand that the library has recently joined the 21st century and created an integrated library system with Washington and Greene counties. I could see this being a stressful time for all, but please understand that my observations have collected over the past three years. The rudeness of the women at the front desk is outlandish. I can’t believe a community portal that is supposed to offer a service to community members houses such ignorant women. Albeit, these women are almost all senior citizens; however, do they need to be so harsh and negative!? If they are going to act in such a cruel manner, can’t they re-shelf books or work in the reference department? Thank goodness these individuals are not working with children or young adults. It’s so sad to see that “the old, grumpy librarian” cliche lives on at Peters Township Public Library.
