Brentwood 5K set for Fourth of July
This year marks the 30th running of the Brentwood Firecracker 5-kilometer run.
Held at 9 a.m. next Thursday, the run kicks off the community’s annual Fourth of July celebration.
Run in memory of the late Mayor Jim Joyce, who founded the event, the race begins and ends at the Brentwood Towne Square shopping center and covers a course that follows the parade route.
This year for the first time, registration is being accepted online. Visit www.brentwood5k.com to complete a form. There will be no registrations accepted July 1 through 3. Race-day registration may be held, starting at 7 a.m. The run will be limited to 2,000 participants.
Fees range from $15 for individuals through June 30 to $40 for families of three with $12 for each additional runner.
Race packet pick-up will be held beginning at noon June 29 and 30 at the Brentwood Library located at 3501 Brownsville Road.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top finishers while trophies will be given to winners in 15 age groups, ranging from 11 and under to 80 and over.
