The Friends of the Hollywood Theater announce upcoming events at The Hollywood Theater in Dormont, beginning with the new Screen and Be Seen series, 7:30 p.m. March 6 with a series of short videos and an acclaimed 43-minute documentary, “The Trail,” by Robert Isenberg. The Trail chronicles his six-day bicycle journey from Pittsburgh to Washington, D.C., along the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal. Tickets are $5.

• “John Dies at the End” – 7:30 p.m. March 7. The horror/comedy/sci-fi film is about a new drug that promises an out-of-body experience…but those who try it don’t come back as human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero.
• “The ABCs of Death” – 7 and 9:30 p.m. March 8, and 7 p.m. March 10. This American anthology horror film contains 26 different shorts, each by different directors, spanning 15 countries. Every director was assigned a letter of the alphabet and then given free rein in choosing a word to create a story involving death.

St. Patrick’s, Out of the Box, a celebration of traditional and original Irish music will be performed free at 2 p.m. March 10 at the Box Heart Gallery, Pittsburgh.

The Heritage Players will perform the comedy, “Anybody Out There?” at 8 p.m. March 8-9 and 2 p.m. March 10 at the Seton Center in Brookline. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The Jewish Community Center (JCC) of Greater Pittsburgh will present its seventh annual Big Night, Time of Our Lives at 7:30 p.m. March 9 at the JCC in Squirrel Hill.
The ’80s theme will include music and dancing, refreshments, amusements and an MTV Lounge. There will be raffles for a Henne Jewelers Shopping Spree and an A&L 2-year BMW Lease. Nationally renowned Spelman College Jazz Ensemble is coming to Pittsburgh as part of the Afro American Music Institute 30th Anniversary Celebration.
The all-female jazz ensemble will take the stage at 7 p.m. March 11 at the Kelly Strayhorn Theater.
